How do you make a perfect homemade buttered popcorn? Old style po, no popcorn maker. Should the heat be high or low? Step by step please.

hi mommy jazz! I chance upon this perfect popcorn recipe on the web. I tried this at home and it has a very nice outcome. Hereunder is the step by step procedure.

What you need:
Canola Oil (or any high smoke point oil)
High quality popcorn kernels
Butter
Salt

- heat the oil in a sauce pan on medium high heat
- try to put 3 or 4 popcorn kernels into the oil and cover the pan
- when the kernel pop, add more popcorn kernels.  It should be in an even layer. Cover the pan again and remove from heat for 30 seconds.
- return the pan to the heat. the popcorn should begin popping and all at once. Once the popping starts, gently shake the pan by moving it back and forth over the burner. With the lid slightly ajar to let the steam from the popcorn release.
- once popping slows for several seconds, remove the pan from heat.
- put popcorn on a wax paper and spread evenly on the table
- heat butter until it melts. whisk salt until it completely mixed
- start pouring mixture on your popcorn, then place popcorn into a bowl

Enjoy!

Ay, does that mean pag nag umpisa mag pop, I have to open the lid and put some more kernels? Hindi kaya ako matalsikan ng popcorn?

Will try this, thanks!

When you add the remaining kernels it won't pop right away so don't worry po.    the first 3-4 kernels that you put in, by then, for sure it already popped.

Saan po nakakabili ng pang flavor sa popcorn like those used in Taters? White cheese, barbeque?

Jolly time? if I'm not mistaken, yan din yung nabibili sa 7-11 na ipapa microwave mo. Yes, I like that too. Sawa na ako sa usual popcorn I make at home. The kids however, don't care. Basta popcorn, kahit akong brand gusto nila. Personal fav ko of course is Chef tony's.
I have a question. Will it be better if I use more oil as in lubog yung kernels? Will it make the popcorn puffier?

This is what we usually do kapag wala kaming ready na microwavable popcorn sa bahay: bili ka lang ng brown paper bag na mas malaki ng konti sa bag ng microwavable popcorn bag. Put a handful of popcorn inside the bag then fold mo ng mga half inch yung opening ng bag ng mga 3 to 4 times. Put it in the microwave and cook it in high for 3 minutes pero bantayan mo pa din. Kung wala ka ng marinig na pop for 3 seconds i-off mo na. For the butter naman, put butter in a bowl, put it in the microwave and heat it for 5 to 7 seconds. Put your cooked popcorn sa isang malaking container with cover. Pour the melted butter then mix it. Then cover the container then shake it. You can add iodized salt or any flavoring before shaking it. Yung brown paper bag pwd din ireuse basta hnd pa butas at wala pang sunog na part. :)

Pag mainit na start shaking it. Tapos balik mo sa stove para maheat. Tapos shake mo ulit. :)
