Breastfeeding After a C-Section
« on: October 11, 2012, 11:14:22 am »

Hi mommies. I just want to ask any tips on how to start breastfeeding after a C-Section. I'll be giving birth via CS due to some complications in a few weeks time and I need all the help and tips which you could share. Thanks in advance mommies...

Ask you OB to observe the skin-to-skin contact procedure right after giving birth kahit na CS ka. KAsi very important yun both for you and baby. Then, if you think na kaya mo na (at kahit sa tingin mo di mo pa kaya) ask the doctor to have your baby roomed-in immediately. Iba yung energy na binibigay ng baby once you get hhold of her. parang biglang di ka bagong opera.

Breastfeed her like you should kung normal delivery ka. Or you can try the side-lying position kung medyo masakit pagtumatama si baby sa sugat mo. By the way, CS pala ako. With me I had no problems BFing my baby in cradle hold position.

Me too, CS ako.  Ang sakit nung tahi, grabe  :'(  So just breastfeed your baby in a position na comfortable ka and si baby.  Any position will do.  You may also ask the help of your OB or the nurses in the nursery.  Ganun kasi ginawa ko and they gave me instructions and lots of info about breastfeeding.  Nakatulong talaga.  Now si baby is 16 months and breastfeeding pa din siya  :D

Salamat mga sisses for your reply. My question lang ako, if ever na I couldn't physically breast feed him, puwede ba mag-pump and ilagay sa bottle yung milk or would that lead to nipple confusion??

twice na akong na-cs and a day after ko manganak nagpapabreastfeed na ako.

I don't think that would be a problem. With my 2nd baby, ganun ang ginawa ko the first day kasi hindi pa pwede room-in because of some complications -- baby was being treated for a minor infection at hindi pa pwedeng ilabas sa nursery. Pero sabi nga ni mommyTMS, don't expect to get a lot of milk by pumping sa first few days.

Me, I've been cup feeding my baby since day 1 when I returned to work.
