I just reviewed my youngest for his evaluation (prep level, progressive) and I feel this will be the scope of the entrance he will take for Grade 1 at a different school. Kasi yung panganay ko I remember almost ganito din ang tinake niya.

number order (>,<,=; least to greatest and the reverse)
counting (filling in the missing number) 1-50
odd and even numbers 1-10
spelling of numbers 1-20
simple addition and subtraction
telling time (o'clock and :30)
pie fraction (1 whole, 3/4, 1/2, 1/4)
recognizing Philippine bills and coins
sequencing (set pictures of routine or events she will arrange in order)
sentence construction (ex: boy-sitting-tree-under-is-the-a)
opposites

That's all I remember.

I just had my son take the  assessment at CGF Academy in Makati. I'm impressed with how the teacher assessed him. The score was based not on the general answer but to as how the child perceived the given situation/question.
Like marking X if the picture depicts a bad trait and "check" if good. Sa picture of a boy taking a bath, he marked X kasi full na daw yung bucket e may drip pa sa faucet. Wasting water daw yon. There's an illustration of 3 people helping each other digging. X din mark niya kasi daw yung 3rd person is just watching with the shovel on his hand, he's not helping daw. There's also a boy and a girl planting. The girl has a hand shovel digging while the boy is holding the plant already rooted in the soil . X din mark niya kasi it seemed to him that the boy is pulling the plant out spoiling the work of the girl.
He reads the instructions himself. E sabi sa instruction draw in the box a sun if the picture shows a daytime activity, and a moon if it's done at night. He drew the suns and moons over the entire drawing. When asked, sagot niya kasi the entire drawing is in the box. Oo nga naman, hindi naman sinabi sa instruction na sa "small" box isulat ang sagot. What he noticed is the frame of the drawing kaya yun ang akala niyang 'box'.
With these, the teacher considered all his answers as correct and concluded he can think beyond what is illustrated. The teacher noted din things he needs to improve on like saying his thoughts out while answering. Hindi pwede yun sa classroom during a test or else maririnig ng classmates niya sagot niya. Mabilis din siya magbasa that he'd guess the next word in the sentence instead of reading each word carefully. I'm already aware of that weakness.
I'm so happy I treated him for donuts afterwards. Sabi ba naman we'll take the donuts home nalang for her Ate and her Ate's friend (who's having a sleepover at our place). Napaka thoughtful kaya I bought home a dozen. Uy mura na dunkin dozen ngayon.

Reading this thread made me nervous.. Gosh, the entrance exam in The Philippines is quite tough! My husband keeps on insisting that I should teach my daughter math and reading, which the school here hasn't started doing math. School is quite fun and easy over here so I am just nervous that my daughter would be stressed out when moving to Manila.

Btw, how about entrance exam for Kinder? Do they need number and letter knowledge?

Thanks!

What materials at home have you used to prep your child for an entrance assessment?
