Never heard of this before until now. I dont think this is true either. My daughter was exclusively breastfed for 8 months pero hinde naman sya delayed talker. At 17 months old, my daughter can use a couple of phrases like go out, mommy milk, wash na, etc.

mga mommies like me,

How about, pacifiers, yung laging naka pacifier si baby causes speech development or delay of speech? =)

Ang alam ko po mommy shankypanky na ang pacifier can cause damage sa teeth ng baby kasi one time we were in S&R, my hubby was carrying our baby when they were approached by a man. He told us that we should not give baby a pacifier kasi nkita niya may pacifier na hawak si baby that time. According to him, it can cause damage later on sa teeth niya so right there and then we stop her from using the pacifier. btw, yung old man is a dentist from chinese hospital. :)

Causes of Delayed Speech or Language

Many things can cause delays in speech and language development. Speech delays in an otherwise normally developing child can sometimes be caused by oral impairments, like problems with the tongue or palate (the roof of the mouth). A short frenulum (the fold beneath the tongue) can limit tongue movement for speech production.

Many kids with speech delays have oral-motor problems, meaning there's inefficient communication in the areas of the brain responsible for speech production. The child encounters difficulty using and coordinating the lips, tongue, and jaw to produce speech sounds. Speech may be the only problem or may be accompanied by other oral-motor problems such as feeding difficulties. A speech delay may also be a part of (instead of indicate) a more "global" (or general) developmental delay.

Hearing problems are also commonly related to delayed speech, which is why a child's hearing should be tested by an audiologist whenever there's a speech concern. A child who has trouble hearing may have trouble articulating as well as understanding, imitating, and using language.

Ear infections, especially chronic infections, can affect hearing ability. Simple ear infections that have been adequately treated, though, should have no effect on speech.

keep on talking to your child, encourage him/her to be responsive and also have his hearing checked.

Not true at all. I breastfed my baby for 2 years. She uttered her first word at 9 months. Baka there was a misunderstanding lang with what the pediatrician said. Pediatricians are supposed to promote breastfeeding and encourage moms to do it, not discourage them by saying that breastfeeding can cause speech delay. =)

for me mommy hindi ito totoo. kase yung unang baby ko hanggang 2 yrs old breastfeed siya, and super aga ng pagsasalita niya, 4 months mama and papa na then marami ng sumunod na mga salita at nung mag 1year old na siya, matatas na siya magsalita, hindi ko kasi siya bini baby talk kaya 2 yrs old ang daldal na niya hanggang ngayon, madaldal parin. ang bilis pa magsalita, hindi ko na nga mahabol eh! hehe 😊

not true. never heard.
i refuse to believe this kasi walang negative stuff talaga about breastfeeding. unless that doctor is advertising/encouraging formula drinking (for incentives from milk companies) vs. breastfeeding.

i am really upset about people and unjust professionals who say things that arent true.

not true based from my experience....yung mga bata lahat depende sa exposure to learning maaga naka pag salita wala namang speech delay.  kausapin mo lang ng kausapin and continue to eat healthy food for baby.

niot true, my baby is now 2 and still breastfeeding pero maaga  siya ngtalk and now suoer daldal na,she can say a paragraph na and sings lot of songs na super understandable  talaga.since she was a baby,we always talk to her and never baby talk her kaya straight din siya magsalita.we always open the radio or tv para lagi siya may naririnig na salita, just choose yung mga kid friendly shows or educational dvd, really helps...constant talking lang and mglelearn talaga ang baby mgtalk kasi ginagaya nila yung mga nakikita and naririnig nila eh...

I haven't heard of that.  I think breastmilk is still the best for babies. Kaka One year old pa lang ni baby and she can say words like: mama, dada, hello, bye, nose, ears, eyes, teeth, ball.  Andami na niyang words na alam.  Nakakatuwa  ;D

A bit worried pero mag iintay nalang siguro ako hehe  ;D .. Yung niece ko naman ebf din pero nung 2 years old siya super galing na magsalita, memorize na agad ang abc.. Kaya wala talaga basehan kung totoo ito..
