i had my first shot of depotrust. wala kase yung ob ko last last saturday (which iba ata ang ginamit sa akin before) and i need to have one na so yung another ob recommended this depotrust.
but since then, grabe ang headache ko, lagi rin akong gutom, antukin, nanghihina and mainitin ulo.

nagsisi talaga ako why i had myself injected of this one.

My first shot was Aug 27, 2010.. ang sabi ng OB ko possible daw magkaron ako o hindi. susme!!! Sept 26 nagkaron ako.. till now! so, 6 days na ako bleeding. pero, di naman ganun kadami. nagpa-check na ako sa OB ko yesterday. checked niya cervics ko malapit na daw magsara kaya matatapos na yung bleeding ko and nagreseta sya sakin ng Hemostan and Mefenamic Acid for 2 days. sana huminto na itong bleeding ko!

^ un din prescribed ng OB ko hemostan and mefenamic when i went on bleeding for almost 4 weeks.  yes, 4 weeks. at hindi lang 'to spotting.  i need to wear maternity pads para mglast man lang ng more than 2 hours yung pads.  i am into injectible from January 2009 to March 2010.  i lost 4 bags of blood and i need to be blood transfused.

my fault pinatagal ko yung bleeding ko dahil sa busy ako.  advise lang na pag 10 days bleeding nyo mommies, get to see your OB specially when you are using injectible.

Hi Mommies!

I would like to ask for your opinions. I just started taking injectibles. My 1st shot was with my OB but I don't know the brand and my 2nd shot was with my Nurse-Midwife Tita and it was DEPOTRUST. I was just curious how effective is depotrust? I was a bit paranoid since my daughter is only 7 months old and we can't afford to have another pregnancy. My husband only come home twice a month because of his work. Is it safe even we don't use condoms and withdrawal method? I would not get easily pregnant?  I did experience several side-effects though which most mommies mentioned here especially the almost 1 month spotting. Its ok with me but I really want to make sure how effective it is.

Thank you mommies! God Bless!

Hi,

http://www.mims.com.ph/Philippines/drug/info/Depotrust/Depotrust%20depot%20inj?type=full#Contraindications

Side Effects:    Some women may experience side effects eg, nausea, vomiting, headache, breast discomfort, depression, skin rashes and slight weight change. Menstrual irregularities eg, amenorrhea, breakthrough bleeding, spotting and menorrhagia are common with progesterone-only contraceptives. Most of these side effects are mild and usually disappear after a few months of contraceptive use.

Pregnancy Category (US FDA)
Category X: Studies in animals or human beings have demonstrated foetal abnormalities or there is evidence of foetal risk based on human experience or both, and the risk of the use of the drug in pregnant women clearly outweighs any possible benefit. The drug is contraindicated in women who are or may become pregnant.

Depotrust stops ovulation, thins the lining of the uterus and thickens the cervical mucus. In combination, these actions prevent pregnancy.

Comment:

http://www.smartparenting.com.ph/parentchat/index.php?topic=20910.msg292922#msg292922

^ i think, like any other type of contraceptive naman ay mangyayari yang ganyang senaryo lalo at waang sapat na kaalaman ang gagamit nito. That is why it is better to consult with an OB or a health care specialist before starting any kind of contraceptive method.

depo shots are effective when injected during a woman's 1st-4th day of menstruation.

I am a mother of 3 - a 12yr old, 7 yr old and 8mos old boys. For the past 12yrs of being married, we relied on natural family planning - rhythm method and withdrawal if unsure, since my menstrual cycle is very irregular.

After giving birth to my 3rd son, gusto ko n magpa ligate, since hindi nag la-ligate ang new OB ko, she promised to teach us na lang mag family planning. A month after, she gave me depo-provera, which costs 700pesos and was advised to have my next shots every after 3mos. Since mahal ang depo-provera, I decided to try depo-trust and asked our friend, who happens to be a medical practitioner to administer it. I never liked the side-effects - mood swings, weight gain (super!), back pain, and spotting. Gusto ko man mag stop, i can't kc mahirap magswitch back to rhythm since hindi n nga ako nag mense ng maayos.

After going thru the thread, i'm having 2nd thoughts na naman whether or not i should continue my 3rd dose this October. For the longest time, i'm under the impression that contraceptives prevents ovulation. Nkaka konsensya yung post about killing a baby.  I'm from the medical field myself, but since UST is a catholic university, hindi namin napag aralan ang artificial family planning,  but it's hard to believe na may abortion na nangyayari since wala naman ngang bleeding which is the 1st sign na may foreign substance sa uterus.

I hope that an OB could enlighten us about this. Palagi kc, sasabihin nila ang good and bad side pero hindi na e explain pano na prevent ang pregnancy. Are injectable contraceptives really abortifacient? Could it cause hyperplasia na pwedeng mag lead sa myoma since hindi nag me mense ang users?

Sa hirap naman talaga ng buhay, mahirap ang maraming anak but we have to be knowledgeable about safe and effective family planning.

Hi mickey mom and everyone on this thread

I believe that every parent who loves their children must love life.  A mother or a father will want to have more life so that they can give more love to their children.

It is so sad that that a lot of today's consumer services and products seem to be income-driven/profit-driven.

Tayo kaya na mga smart parents...what is it that drives us?  Love? Life? Truth?
