Per BDO Website, eto yung prevailing interest rate sa JSC: 0.5000%

Please check: http://www.bdo.com.ph/Personal/DepositsInvestments/NewInterestRates.asp#

Just select the "Peso-Savings Account" from the dropdown menu bar, tapos makikita mo na yung different types ng account, kasama na dun yung JSC.

mga sis, baby ko sa metrobank fun savers sya. I just want to ask if a year na walang withdrawal or deposit sa account, meron bang deduction yun?

As for my experience, oo may bawas sa metrobank pag dormant ang account at baka maubos pa pera ni baby. Kaya lumipat ako sa bpi and bdo. unlike sa bdo, although may deduction very minimal lang kasi mas mataas pa rin ang interest rate na binibigay nila.

yung sakin kasi , 300,000 lang muna yung kinuha ko for my baby ,so im paying 100k plus  annually, for 5 yrs , bale nasa pangalan ko sya, so insured din ako, anything happens to me si baby yung beneficiary ko, and aside from that my loan able amount pa sya, and after i reached the maturity (i get 10 yrs , kasi 1 yr old palang si baby para exact na 16 yrs old na sya nun , for college ) they will divide the 300k into 8, yun ang marereceive niya per semester, aside from that , after graduation , she'll receive additional 300k as her graduation gift...after that stop na , and if lets say dina natuloy si baby , you can get the lump sum money anytime basta fully paid ka na and that's with interest narin.... you can also get a life insurance for your baby , yun naman . after 5 yrs of payment , plus you need to wait for additional 3 yrs , she'll receive her pension , i'm not familiar with the amount , and that's for  a life time pension, yun nga lang every other 2 yrs ang pension niya....just visit BDO and ask for GENERALI PILIPINAS kasi may computation yan depends on your age , pero mas maganda mag start habang maaga pa ,para mabilis nyong mareached yung maturity period,.

^ yes sis merong discount card ulet ngayon. Nainis nga din ako kase when I opened an account for my daughter, ang laki din ng initial deposit ko tapos when I asked them about the discount card, wala daw. 2010 ata yun.

I'm talking from experience, I am now 45 years old, my kids are 14 and 16 yr-old.   I have done what you all did, saved the money they got every year from their christening, to their birthdays and every christmas, napakaliit lang ng naging interes.  If I knew then what I know now, I would have done differently.  For sure, come what may, di nyo gagalawin ang pera, and time is on your side, kahit volatile ang market, may time makarecover pera ng mga babies nyo.  By the time they graduate from school and need money as starter fund you have something to give them as a gift.  Both BDO and Metrobunk have funds like these, and they are stable banks, BPI is also a good bank.  Though I have also observed that it's hard to do business with metrobank anywhere because they have so many clients.
