Ako..

I can't write on behalf of  papa bear pero I cried nung first time ko nakita si papa bear holding jacob! parang I felt din what he felt that moment..

"Excited na Takot.. Masaya na Malungkot..

ewan ko bah.. basta ganun..

pero nung makita ko baby ko.. sarap ng feeling..

gusto ko siyang hawakan agad, pero takot din ako hawakan.."

I saw it sa eyes niya, parang ganito din yung feeling niya..

i asked hubby this question, way-way back pa, when we still have one son palang.

he said: "extremes!"

sobrang natatakot siya for me and the baby,
sa expectations niya sa sarili at ng iba if he'll be a good daddy. (he was crying said my mom when i was in delivery room, takot na takot siya)

sobrang saya kasi may baby na siya
very proud of his little bundle of joy

when I saw SD holding my baby, I want to shout at him at tell him to get out of my room and get out of our lives  :P
He's just not the right dad for my son  :P  :D

sa lahat ng mga daddies out there...ano ang feeling nong first time nakita at nahawakan si baby after lumabas sa delivery room or sa nursery...?? curious lang kasi ako..kasi im on 38 and 8days na ako and excited na ako lumabas si baby girl pero nakikita ko sa hubby ko parang hindi yata excited makita finally si baby....kasi parang wala lang sya.
Hirap din i explain. when my baby daugther came out parang na feel ko yung sense of pride ng isang daddy lalo na dahil girl ang first ko. totoo sinasabi nila kahit anung pagod mo. once na makita mo baby mo nawawala pagod mo. it changed my life within 24hrs. from a playful and happy go lucky person to a more serious and full of pride na daddy. un yung naramdaman ko. parang you want to give her everything in your power be it food, a kind word lahat na. its very magical than love at first site. im telling you if you love your significant other. you would also fall in love with your baby

nung nasa delivery room si wifey, para akong loko na paikot-ikot sa waiting area ng delivery room, di kasi mapakali! tapos bababa ng ground floor, lalabas ng hospital, magyoyosi. kung may vendo nga lang ng beer that time sa hospital, malamang bumili ako eh! hanggang sa tawagin na surname namin nung nurse. nakita ko baby ko, ang liit, tapos umiiyak. pero i had a sigh of relief kasi the procedure went well and that my wife is ok. the following day nang makita ko sa nursery room si baby, sya lang iyak ng iyak, lahat tulog. yun pala nagugutom, kawawi naman! maya't-maya kasi ang dede, eh hindi pala pwede na tuwing gusto niya mag dede eh bibigyan. nakaka-alis ng pagod ang baby.  ;)

apprehensive din ang feeling kasi first timer. di pa marunong eh. takot hawakan si baby, ang liit kasi, baka mahulog! pero nahawakan ko rin on the second day. hanggang sa natuto na mag-sterilize ng feeding bottles kahit pagod galing work at OT. natuto na rin magpalit ng diapers, etc.  :)

my wife gave birth last july. i agree with most of the posts here. iba talaga feeling, HEAVEN! sobrang proud ka na daddy ka na. totoo na malilimutan mo lahat sa paligid mo. i admit, tears run down from my eyes when i saw my little princess. i was thankful din kasi safe sila ng wife ko. my baby just turned 1 month last friday, excited lagi ako to go home to see my wife and our baby.

First time I held my baby? Para kang nanlalambot at nananaginip. Nung single ako ang emotions usually one at a time lumalabas pero nung nagkababy, halo-halo na! Happy na worried, Excited and humbled, proud yet undeserving. You start talking and making promises to yourself about what you're going to change and what kind of father you're going to be.. but overall you really feel blessed.

my husband, to me, was the happiest and proudest dad in the world when he saw, held and kissed our baby.. i saw his tears as the overwhelming joy brought by our son embraced him.. super surreal yung moment that time.. he talks to our baby as if the baby understands him..

ramdam na ramdam ko yung kaligayahan niya and it made me feel good.. :)

Can Dads Get Postpartum Depression Too?
A research from the University of Michigan shows that over 1,700 dads of 1-year-olds had a “major depressive episode” since their babies were born.

As far as I can remember, masaya ako ng lumabas na si baby.  Tagal din kase ng paghihintay at sobrang haggard din ako sa pag-aalaga sa wifey ko and everything that our baby will need...I was relieved din at nakita ko na ang inaalagaan ko sa tiyan ni wifey.

At the same time parang may takot din than lungkot...may kinalaman yata ito sa link na post ni ToughMom about POST PARTUM DEPRESSION.  I have not read the article yet so I can tell what I felt without being adulterated by the article.  I guess I would agree that men do experience post partum depression too. Maraming worries, like if I can be a good dad and if I can meet my own expectations as a dad. Mas mabigat ang responsibilidad and it can be scary too lalo na siguro kung maaga kang naging daddy.  My son just turned 2 years old and sometimes di maiwasang mag worry kase habang lumalaki ang bata lumalaki din ang responsibilidad... continuation ba ng post partum? hehe

Now I can read the arcticle hehe.  Thank you for sharing ToughMom.
