My 2 year old girl has skin asthma...I was told to go to an allergologist first the to a derma pedia...please share your inputs on these. Contacts for allergologist and derma pedia as well as health stories will definitely help. Thanks!

Hi!
You might want to add to your options: (Pediatric Dermatologist) Dr. Marie Nicholas at Asian Hospital, Tel. 7719235.
I don't know her personally but knows of her good credentials in immunodermatology.

hope this helps somehow,

hi mommy, you may want your daughter to try on Goji juice. I strongly believe that this product can help cure your child's skin asthma. Please read the links. For more information, please don't hesitate to email me at tanj77@gmail.com

My daughter too has skin asthma. She's 4 years old now. Our Pedia said that lung asthma (which is from our side of the family) and skin asthma are related. It's can be treated but not totally cured. Now I apply Elica on her rashes. I still use calmoseptin sometimes but Elica is more effective but more expensive. Ask your Pediatrician about it.
I try to keep her cool and dry to prevent rashes. Always with a 'pamunas' to catch those sweat. Maybe when she grows up and can care for herself, there'll be less problem.
If you learn new studies or treatment on it from your allergologist or pedia derma, let us know.

My daughter is under medication now kaya nawala na mga skin rashes niya...I went to allergologist Dr. Canla of makati Med...He's so good.  My daughter, Jasmine underwent skin allergy test and I found out na allergic sya sa soy kaya pala, the powdered vitamins she was taking when her rashes appeared is soy based.  Will tell you more about this...

My son, Holiday has Atopic Dermatitis too.  Asthma runs in the family kasi.
His Allergologist is Dr. Miguel Noche from UST and Cardinal Santos.  FYI: He is the present chairman of the board of medicine.
Holiday already has been tested for his allergies.  It turned out he is allergic to dust mites.

^ naku, same tayo. my eldest has atopic dermatitis too.  he got that from me because I have allergies as well. i still don't know if my younger son has allergies because he seems to be everywhere but does not develop rashes.  we haven't been back to my son's allergologist (Dr. Canlas) because the treatment is basically the same all the time.

mommies, can I ask how much ang consultation fee kay Dr. Canlas? I plan to bring my son to him this week but I don't think he's accredited with our health card provider. My son was diagnosed with atopic dermatitis when he was barely a year old. Derma-pedia lang ang pinuntahan namin pero na-control naman yung rashes niya that time. But recently, I was advised by his pedia optha to consult an allergologist since my son's eyes would blink very often and allergy daw yung probable cause nun.

thanks and have a good week ahead!

Thanks mommy mayette! I already brought my son to another allergologist, Dr. Santos-Ocampo, also from Makati Med. Accredited kasi siya sa health card namin. She prescribed Virlix to be taken by my son daily and instructed me to maintain a food diary. I'll observe him 4 about a month to see if the medicine would alleviate the symptoms. If not, a skin test will be done. Hopefully, there won't be a need for that. medyo mahal din pala yung procedure, hehe. Thanks again for the info!  :)

May nakausap kasi akong momy while waitng for my turn sa pedia. Sabi niya matapang daw yung lactacyd para dun sa may mga rashes na sobra. She told me to try cetaphil then change his milk to NAN HA. Sympre ginwa ko ayun ok naman… unti unti nag clear yung rashes niya. And before lactacyd yung gamit niya. Yun lang na share ko lang.

Anyway, meron nap o ba nakagmit sa baby nyo ng SEBAMED soap? Hirap kasi mag hanap, I think nakita ko lang sya sa glorietta (I forgot the name of the shop). medyo pricey kasi.

Share ko lang.  :)

My son has skin asthma asthma too. We discovered it when he was 6 months. We all the while thought  that those red spots (similar to pantal which after 1 day or 2 becomes watery or nagbblister) were insect bites. It appears every time that there's an irregularity sa weather like sobrang cold or hot. Or when he has cough. Or when he ate chocolates or to sweet foods. We borught him sa pedia and good thing, derma naman  ang partner ng pedia. They gave us a special soap which costs 500 and good for 2 weeks use but then it takes time before the red spots heal. So we restrict him to eat those bawal foods. Kawawa naman. But then, its really hard not to let him eat chocolates. Then I tried to put terramycin ointment in the spots and the following day, the spots are healed and hindi n ngbblister. The smallest tube costs around P 200 which can be bought sa watsons or mercury. So there but then still need to monitor his food intakes para hindi mrigger yung skin asthma niya.
