I can't comment on the pathologist but as far as my knowledge extends..echolalia is not a SIGN of autism.it is part of language development and Klarisse is not echoing, meaning she repeats your utterances..she is filling in the words of the song which is very typical with kids developing language.
Don't get too stressed po, as long as walang red flags of autism which I mentioned, We do not label her as such. Attention span may be the culprit po talaga with her language delay which is pretty much worked on by the OT. If you ave a hunch or a valid reason that ur daughter is lagging, better see an OT.Wala naman mawawala if you have early intervention... :)

the best thing to do talaga is to go to developmental pedia. it doesn't mean naman na kapag d nag reresponse or d pa nakakapagsalita ehh meron nang autism. meron din ibang pwedeng dahilan, pwede rin hearing impaired siya, kaya siya hindi nakakapagresponse and nagsalita bec. d niya naiintindihan un sinasabi mo kxe d niya masyadong naririnig or d niya talaga naririnig. unang assest palang dyan ng dev pedia alam na niya if meron autism ang anak mo or hearing impaired or delayed lang talaga. after non kun ano findings niya yun na meron na mga series of test to confirm na tama talaga yun findings niya. try mo si Dr. Francis Dimalanta ng St. Lukes. Magaling sya promise, sa anak ko isang tingin lang niya sinabi niya sakin agad na hearing impaired yan, then after series of test we found out na moderately hearing impaired nga ang anak ko.

hi mga mommies!

ako din po worried sa son ko. he is 14mos old. yet he still can't walk without support and only babbles syllables. though earlier, siguro 5mos siya nun, he uses mama baba na, pero it stopped til now minsan lang and he parang he doesn't associate it to us. minsan lang pagsobrang inis na niya o frustrated o if he's not feeling well he'll use mama to get my attention. pag-gusto niya na pansinin siya he'll just shout or makes a sound. last chech-up niya, it was brought to our attention by his pedia, kc i ask na nga if okay lang at his age na hindi pa siya nagsasalita or naglalakad. His pedia brought out some things, like a ball, doll and bell.. She ask our son point the bell or get it. pero kinuha ng son ko un ball kasi dun siya familiar. Sabi niya na un nga medyo alarming un sa di paggamit ni baby ko ng mama and dada.. or any word. dapat daw by this time kahiy un mga usual things na gamit ni baby like cup or others he can tell or point. but she said observe p namin within the months. pero she recommended na a dev pedia, kasi nga matagal makakuha ng appointment and puwede naman daw ipacancel pag-okay na si baby. she recommends Dr. Agnes Falcotelo. btw, di ko namention sa pedia niya na he likes spinning wheels and circular objects kahit un mga buttons sa damit, ngayon ko lang kasi nalaman it is a sign pala of autism.

til now di pa kami nakapagpaappointment, marami kasi nagsasabi na ganun daw talaga mga bata lalo na lalake, mas matagal magsalita. pero parang my mind tells me na i should consult na a dev pedia. tapos we left manila pa kasi si hubby sa clark nagwowork, wala makalaro un baby ko na ibang kids. i'm considering na nga to enroll him to school o daycare kaso baka wala pa tumanggap. and unti lang din dito sa pampanga un mga centers for toddlers.

just want to ask your opinions mommies.. is it early pa, should we wait til 18mos?
thanks in advance!

Kung okay naman then that's the time you go to a developmental pedia.

I have 2 kids.  Iba sila ng development.  My first born delayed ang speech tapos gusto niya lahat mabilis.....to slow him down binigyan ko ng construction toys, puzzles.  Takot din ako akala ko may ADHD ang kulit kasi walang kapaguran pero it's just normal.

As for my second, medyo dito maraming problema akong na-encounter.  She was born with congenital development hip dysplasia kaya delayed ang crawlling, flipping, walking kasi naka-pavlik harness siya for 7months tapos brace ng 2 months.  Everything was delayed pero we were hoping that everything will be fine.........in her own pace.  Hindi namin pina checkup ulit.  Hinayaan muna namin siya gumalaw sa gusto niya at matuto magisa pero may gabay.............like playpen, dito siya gumagabay para tumayo at maglakad; rubber mats, i let her move around the floor.  She was crawling na parang lumpo, nakasayad ang mga paa pero hindi ako masyadong nagalala......observe muna. Now, she 3yo......she's okay.
Another problem, eyesight....nakatingin sa gilid pag nanunuod (lalo sa malayo) tapos minsan biglang nagtatakip ng ears niya.....so pinacheck ko eyes and ears niya.  Sa eyes, mannerism lang at farsighted si baby....followup ulit before she'll go to school.  Ears hindi ko pa napa hearing test pero she's articulate and loves to sing kaya hindi ko masasabing bingi siya.

@otsowaloeyt08 - it is a myth or wag daw nating sabihing, 'eh ganyan talaga ang mga batang lalaki, late ang development compare to girls'.   pero ok rin yong medyo praning tayo with regard to the development of our kids kasi if we notice lag, we can address the problem as early as possible. (nabasa ko ibang post mo)

my baby boy who is barely 11 months, can now climb the stairs, walk 3-4 steps without any support though he is still babbling. every time he hears cat's sound, he's turning his head na parang hinahanap niya ang cat and says "tattat". he responds every time we call his name. pag ask ko sya, "saan letter A  vj?", lalapit agad sa chart at magtuturo.

ako praning din ako when it comes to my kids development. napa developmental assessed ko na nga ang 1st born ko, my jana. para makasigurado na walang problema talaga or if meron man, maaddress ng maaga and thanks God, her assessment turned out well, wala syang developmental or behavioral problem.

mas maganda talaga if ipa assess mo, worth naman mag antay.

It's good to be back.

I'm glad that moms are becoming more aware of their child's developments. More moms are more observant now, and very early ha? That's a good sign that people are becoming more aware of Autism and other conditions. There are also lots of help available now compared to just 3 years ago. More parents are also open about their kid's conditions.

For moms with newly diagnosed kids, please check out my blog: www.autism-angel.blogspot.com

It talks about our family's journey with our daughter's Autism. I started the blog to share it with other parents with the same circumstances as our family's. Hope it could be of help.

“She was just like any other baby. She was bubbly, active, and loving. She smiled at us a lot. But unlike other kids her age, she didn’t respond when people called her either by name or by getting her attention. She had fun when she played, but Maia didn’t join in with other kids, even if it was just running or throwing the ball. She preferred to build towers, stack cups, or line up crayons by herself.”

Hi to all!!  I'm glad that this thread is still alive after 2 years.
My son is 3 years & 7 months old now, a lot had happened, but this thing made me love my son even more. He's been on speech therapy for more than a year now, I can say that he has a lot of improvements. He can label almost everything now, knows a lot of things even half of kids his age do not know, minsan nga nagugulat pa ako. Yun lang he still cannot talk in sentence but at least now, he can express what he wants.

But, Just last night, It almost made me cry when I hear him call me "Mama' twice, kasi I left him in the room with only the night lamp on so he will fall asleep easily, then,  I was so surpised he called out "Mama"!  Make no mistake, he knew I am his mother and when ask where is Mama, he will point at me, but not like this, really calling out for me. That was really major for me although to some it may sound so simple and just nothing but for me it means the world.

Hi. Im a worried mom too. I have a 1yr 1month old son. He seems ok na...very active, happy and malambing na baby. When he hears the sound of the keys alam niya na anjan na daddy niya then punta na sya sa door..when we give him a cup e punta sya sa kitchen kunwari kuha sya ng water sa dispenser..natuwa ako kase he knows na..he imitates our actions..marunong din sya maglagay ng phone sa tenga niya and says "ah" meaning hello..hehe..

when i let him watch brainy baby e concentrate naman sya sa panunuod..i sit him down sa carseat niya then dun lang sya til matapos yung pinapanuod niya..very active and mahilig makipaglaro. minsan nga i think he's smart kase sa dining table e kaya niya icrawl yung mga ilalim ng chairs..nalulusutan niya kahit inaarange namin na mahirapan sya namalusot.

my concern is he still does not respond to his name. naisip ko kase dami namin tawag sa kanya we call him "dasik" before but now we call him AJ..but the yaya sometimes call him "bi" short for baby. naisip ko baka di pa lang niya na associate yung ngame na AJ kase maraming tawag sa kanya..haha..nagwoworry din ako or is it too early for me to be worried about autism? may eye contact naman sya and di sya nag tip toe.

medjo nprapraning na ako regarding s baby girl ko.. first baby namin sya at first apo s side ko.. she will be 2 years old in a week..

--- may eye contact in sya.. pag kinakausap mo. titingin sya sa mata mo.. tpos s lips..kahit pag nagdede .. bottle fed parin sya.

"ba!!"..

for me feeling ko wala naman problem sa anak mo kung yun asd ang kinakatakutan mo as long as sabi mo nakikipag socialize naman sabi mo di ba? and nakakasagot pa nga ng oo at ayaw sayo eh,,and sabi mo pa nga tumitingin naman pag tinatawag mo sa name .  but kun hndi ka talaga mapalagay you can have her check sa devped for peace of mind.....and wala naman syang odd behavior di ba like tip toe or yun mga repetitive stereotype behavior??
