Gas may prevent baby from taking in milk. Routinely burp your baby after every breastfeeding or halfway during bottle-feeding. There are different ways to burp your baby:

On the shoulder. Hold baby firmly against your shoulder, firmly supporting the buttocks with one hand and patting or rubbing the back with the other.

Face-down on lap. Turn baby face-down on lap, stomach over one leg, head resting on the other. Holding her securely with one hand gently, pat or rub with the other.

Sitting up. Sit baby on your lap with head leaning forward and chest supported by your arm as you hold her armpit. Pat and rub gently, making sure not to let baby’s head flop forward.
