  • Moms want only the best soap for baby's sensitive skin. The right cleanser helps prevent rashes and keep your babys skin smooth. When it comes to baby wash, opting for mabula and mabango. a common misconception in the Philippines. is not the ideal as it can be harsh for your little one's delicate skin.

“You’re looking for cleansers that are soap-free and fragrant-free. You don’t want the sudsy kinds of soap as these can strip the oil from the baby’s skin. Some people think that if the cleanser isn’t soapy then it can’t clean. But this isn’t true. These cleansers do the job well and they keep the skin’s moisture in,” pediatrician Dr. Jamie Isip-Cumpas tells to SmartParenting.com.ph

Over at the Smart Parenting (SP) Village Facebook group, a mom asked for suggestions for baby soaps and washes that are “hiyang” for babies with sensitive or allergy-prone skin. Moms were quick to respond with their recommendations, and a lot of them fit the pediatrician’s criteria. Here’s a list of what worked for the moms and their babies from the most budget-friendly to more premium brands.

(Please take note that every baby is different. A brand that might be hiyang for one baby might cause skin irritation to another, even if it's known as a brand for sensitive skin. Ask the advice of your baby’s pediatrician prior to exposing your little one to potential irritants.)

    Johnson's Baby Bath
    Php79 for a 200 mL bottle

It's the classic and go-to for many first-time moms, and the reason quite a few of the SP Village moms recommend it. Its big plus is the fact that we found it in every store we checked. If this is fine for your baby, it can be a good budget-friendly option.

    Belo Baby Body Soap
    Php79.75 for a 100-gram soap bar

Prefer bar soaps than liquid cleansers? Try this brand that is free of sulfates, parabens, phthalates and common allergens (a.k.a. no harmful chemicals). Moms particularly like the soap bar because of its light powdery scent.

    TriSoPure Baby Wash
    Php145.41 for a 170 mL bottle

This brand was the hardest to find in stores (three drugstore branches we went to did not carry it). But SP Village moms shared they use this upon their pediatricians' recommendation (one mom received it after she gave birth at a hospital). The moms loved its budget-friendly price as well.

Dove Baby Sensitive Moisture Hair to Toe Baby Wash

A few of SP Village moms were already recommending this brand's cleansers before it was launched in the Philippine market. One mom shared how a previous baby wash gave her little one rashes, and she replaced it with this brand. “Maganda sa balat ni baby ko. Makinis na siya.”
