Collect a variety of items that make distinctive sounds and hide them in different places: behind a screen, side-turned table, or sofa. Hide behind the first secret place and make sounds with each item. This will prompt your child to follow the sound and look for where the sound is coming from. Try crumpling a newspaper, tapping a jar with a spoon, banging a stainless pan with a wooden ladle, clapping two books together, shaking a rattle, or making a toy squeak.
