Giving birth (whether naturally or via Cesarean) is already a feat, but we still can’t help but be impressed by this Pinay mom who delivered a baby boy that weighed 5.2 kilos or 11.4 pounds!
A viral photo of the newborn has gone viral after Keysa Cultura, a staff midwife at Janicolyn’s Holy Angels Birthing Home, shared a photo of her colleague proudly holding the baby.
According to a news report by Cebu Daily News (CDN), Keysa was not there during the birth but she uploaded the photos since she wanted to commend their staff members, Floricel Celedeña and Leah Oftana who helped deliver the baby boy.

“Ako gi post kay na amaze ko’s kabuyag sa baby (pinost ko dahil na-amaze ako sa kakulitan ni baby),” Keysa told CDN.
The baby was born last September 11, 2021 at Janicolyn’s Holy Angels Birthing Home in Butuan City. It was a first for the birthing home to deliver a baby who weighed over ten pounds.

Both the baby boy and his mother were safe and sound after the delivery.
The mom was also healthy and well after giving birth. According to CDN, the baby boy is her seventh child.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the United States, newborns usually weigh around 7.5 lbs. or 3.4 kg., with boys weighing slightly heavier than girls. If your child weighs over 5.8 lbs. or 2.5 kg. when born, they are not considered as having low birth weight.
When a baby weighs over the 90th percentile at birth, or around 3.7 kg or 8.13 lbs, he is considered larger than average. The medical term for this is fetal macrosomia.
