  • Baby Feeding Facts

Learn what to anticipate when it comes to feeding your five-week-old.
    Published Aug 14, 2009
  • By the fifth week, expect your baby to settle into a feeding routine:

    • Feeding six to eight times a day
    •  Taking in two to five ounces at each feeding
    • Nursing five to 10 minutes on each breast (your milk supply is most likely established by now)

Your baby is feeding well if she is:

    • Wetting around six diapers each day
    • Growing and gaining weight

    TIP

If your baby is suddenly feeding more often, she may be going through a growth spurt, which usually happens at around six weeks of age.
