Collect pots, pans, boxes, toothbrushes, and other empty plastic containers and boxes and put them in a large enough bin. Encourage your little ones to grab one or two items at a time and allow them to examine each closely. Play a matching game to liven up the interaction: give the child a few lids or covers, and line up the containers or boxes; play some lively music while he or she tries to find each lid’s match. Add more lids and containers as your child gets the hang of the game. Spice up the game by placing colorful toys inside each container or box.
