  • How do I stop my baby’s nosebleeding?

Find out what our expert has to say.
  • Q: How do I stop my baby’s nosebleeding?

    baby crying

A: Seat your baby on your lap, leaning him slightly forward. Hold a tissue or a washcloth and gently pinch the soft part of his nose shut. Lightly apply constant pressure for a full 10 minutes. Sing softly or keep talking to your baby while applying pressure to keep him soothed and entertained.

After 10 minutes, release the pressure and check if the bleeding has stopped. If it hasn’t, do it again for another 10 minutes. You can also apply a cold compress on the bridge of his nose.

NOTE: DON’T tilt your baby’s head back, let him lie down, or pack his nose with cotton during or after a nosebleed.
