There was never any denying from the new dad and GMA 7 actor Joaquin Domagoso that he was going to be a father.
According to Pep.ph, rumors of outgoing Manila Mayor Isko Moreno’s 20-year-old son was expecting a baby were already floating around during his father’s recent presidential campaign period, so the baby news was put on hold.
Raffa Castro, younger sister of actress Claire Castro and daughter of actor-turned-news anchor Diego Castro is the new mom.
Joaquin is currently starring in First Lady by GMA, which he was also busy taping when pregnancy news first broke out.
“Napaka-cute raw po ng baby ni Joaquin Domagoso, ang tambok-tambok ng pisngi, ang taas ng ilong at ang guwapo-guwapo,” says Cristy Fermin in her radio program Cristy Ferminute.
Tips for new parents on handling a newborn
Newborns are notorious for being sleepyheads and Filipino parenting has a few outdated practices that are still being passed on today.
Below are a few reminders for new parents when taking care of newborns:
1. Wash your hands.
Newborns are still developing their immune system, so they are at risk for infection says Kids Health by Nemours. If there caregivers or relatives who are going to hold your newborn, make sure they sanitize their hands first.

2. Always support baby’s head and neck.
“Cradle the head when carrying your baby and support the head when carrying the baby upright,” advises Kids Health.
The latter also applies when you lay our baby down.
5. Newborns need to be fed every two to three hours.
If you are breastfeeding, try nursing for 10 to 15 minutes at each breast. Some newborns need to be awakened so as not to miss their feeding time.
Remember that the gap between feeding time is at the start of feeding. If you began feeding at 10:00 AM but finished at 10:45 AM, the next feeding time is 12:00 NN not 12:45 PM if you are following every two hours.
