Just because something has a sexual purpose does not mean that’s the only thing it’s good for.

  • Parents always hope any sickness visit them than their baby, and it applies no matter the child's age. And if their child does get sick, they will do or try ANYTHING that will take away their kids' suffering. So who can blame this mom's action to relieve her baby's chest congestion?

Melons and Cuties, a birth and education center in Texas, shared a technique that raised not just a few eyebrows. The post showed a photo of a turquoise "gadget" on a little infant's back.

Part of the post read: "Our customer shares her remedy for chest congestion! Use on baby’s back while sitting in a steamy bathroom. Brilliant!"

Can you guess what it is?

Yes, your eyes do not deceive you. It's a vibrator.

The Texas-based center said the "vibration technique" has been used in hospital settings and by therapists to treat respiratory issues. "The gentle vibrations of the sex toy help loosen mucus so that the baby can cough them up," the center explained in the comments.

The post caused quite a stir on social media that prompted Melons and Cuties to state it does not support mom-shaming so comments along that line would be deleted. As of this writing, it had racked up more than more than 26,000 comments, 8,000 reactions, and 21,000 shares.

Of course, there were well-meaning comments, offering suggestions like using saline solution and "vibrating action" alternatives (bouncy baby chairs, electric toothbrushes, or back massagers). One mom suggested a costly vest especially made for babies for the same purpose. Another mom said there are vibrators called "thumpers" used by medical professionals.

On mom offered this opinion to those who disagreed with the mom's methods: "The mother, in an attempt to help her child breathe better, used what she already had," she wrote. "Perhaps, this child was suffering in the middle of the night, when most retail stores are closed, and she wasn't able to purchase a back massager at that time, so she got the next best thing."

"The fact this mother was thinking outside the box to help her child breathe says a lot about her level of love desire to assist her helpless child with an essential life function," the woman continued. "Until you have been in this mother's house with her and in her same situation, perhaps then your words are better left inside your head."

Perhaps in a show of solidarity with the mom in the photo, many of the comments were experiences with vibrators and similar gadgets. One mom shared that it was a massive help for babies staying in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), and some were even sent home with similar gadgets.

One person shared her mom used to put a vibrator under her brother's crib mattress to simulate the vibrations of a moving car because it was the only way to help his brother fall asleep. A lot of moms shared that "vibrations loosen up the hardened tissues" when a nursing mom's milk ducts become clogged, too!

People with healthy sexual awareness enjoyed the many fun laugh-out-loud comments in the post. One mom — and, let's be real, she's not the only one — found the post funny and wrote. "Hilarious! But also [a] brilliant representation of how motherhood requires you to be resourceful. LOL. Real Life."

"Grateful for the laughs along the way because laughter is the best medicine for moms in the trenches," Melons and Cuties said. Because at the end of the day, you'd prefer a happy, healthy, and breathing baby.
