“It takes a village,” parents often say. Parenting is no easy feat, and making it work truly takes one. Sometimes, the village goes beyond extended family and close friends. It can also include a reliable community, a helpful store, or anything that makes parenting easier.

A reliable community brings peace of mind when it comes to health and safety, while a helpful store saves time and energy. For parents, these things make a real difference.

The inaugural Smart Parenting Baby Awards recognizes trusted parenting partners in the category Best for Caretaker. These winners were voted on and vetted by Smart Parenting editors and the Smart Parenting Village for their quality, service, and reliability.

Smart Parenting Baby Awards 2026: Best for Caretaker

Baby Store

SM Baby

The first year of a baby’s life is a nonstop cycle of diaper changes, feeding, burping, and sleeping, powered by a steady supply of baby essentials.

It's not just about keeping them cute (though that helps!). Babies quickly outgrow shoes, clothes, socks, and pajamas. Essentials also run out faster than expected.

This year’s Baby Store winner is SM Baby, the preferred one-stop shop for everything your baby needs. You can find next-size outfits, shoes, slippers, and even educational toys. There’s no need to visit multiple stores since you can also stock up on wipes, diapers, bath essentials, and skincare products in one place, but also big-ticket items like car seats, strollers, and playpens. It is also preferred for the nesting-slash-window-shopping season.

Smart Parenting Assistant Managing Editor and mom of two, Em Cruz, shares:

“When I had my eldest, SM Baby (baby section at the SM Store) became one of our go-to stops. Halos every weekend, after groceries or errands, we’d drop by. Dito namin binili most of her essentials—side-ties, clothes, shoes, skincare, toys—and even discovered items we didn’t know we needed."

She adds, "Even now that she and her sister are in school, we still rely on SM for everyday basics like socks, innerwear, and other essentials.”

E-Commerce

Lazada

If we’re talking about a village that makes parenting easier, online shopping definitely belongs on the list.

Babies need a lot of things, from diapers and clothes to everyday essentials. On top of that, there are groceries and household items to manage. The challenge is that running errands with a baby can be difficult, sometimes even impossible. There’s a lot to prepare, and you can feel exhausted before even stepping out of the house.

This year’s Best for Caretaker: E-Commerce winner is Lazada, a well-loved online shopping app that truly delivers. It serves as a reliable support system for parents who have to manage the household, childcare, work, and social life. With free shipping vouchers, discounts, and faster delivery, Lazada remains a practical and budget-friendly partner.

Smart Parenting Art Director and mother of one, Mariella Lao, shares:

“Lazada became our family’s go-to during the pandemic for everyday essentials—from my son’s needs to even food items. Until now, doon pa rin kami umaasa because minsan mas mura kaysa sa mall, especially with vouchers. Mas madali pa maghanap ng specific items.”

It's also a great option for baby registry planning when gathering in person isn't an efficient use of time: just gather links and list them in a live sheet that can be updated if the gift has been bought or not.

Birthing Package

St. Luke’s / The Medical City

Preparation for a baby starts the moment a pregnancy test shows two lines. There’s a lot to consider, and costs can add up quickly.

A complete birthing package offers a convenient and reliable solution, covering even the details you might overlook. This year’s Best for Caretaker: Birthing Package winners are St. Luke’s Medical Center and The Medical City.

St. Luke’s Medical Center’s “Nurturing Beginnings package reimagines the maternity experience by combining medical expertise with personalized care for both mother and baby. It includes a welcome gift package with a Joie baby stroller, baby carrier, and crib, along with organic newborn clothing and care items. Mothers also receive professional breastfeeding support and lactation counseling, plus thoughtful extras like newborn care remedies, gift cards, and a celebratory three-course meal.

For inquiries, you may contact the St. Luke’s Product Information Hub at: 0947-9930471 / 0998-5822276 / 0939-9161805 / 0928-5200239.

The Medical City’s “Signature Maternity Plan is designed with both parents and newborn babies in mind. It includes the mother’s hospital bill, a private room stay (three days for cesarean delivery or two days for normal delivery), a celebratory meal, a newborn photoshoot after discharge, and a TMC bag with baby items. Lactation support is also included, from prenatal counseling to post-delivery assistance.

Smart Parenting Village member and mother of three, Rechell Masacote, won The Medical City’s birthing package at last year’s Mother’s Day Fair and shares her experience:

Because of my previous pregnancy na may placenta previa, nag-emergency CS ako this time. Maganda rin na na-monitor ng The Medical City yung history ko, kaya alam nila agad ang gagawin.

Na-experience ko rin yung Celebratory Meal—the first meal after manganak—which made the moment extra special. May baby bags and supplies din kaming naiuwing extra. Overall, masaya kami sa buong experience.”

Nursing Cover

Little Tots Nursing Cover

Breastfeeding is a 24/7 responsibility. It doesn’t matter where you are or what you're doing. When your baby needs to feed, you respond.

Unfortunately, not all public places are breastfeeding-friendly. Mothers may still face unwanted attention, and some babies tend to fall asleep while feeding. Life goes on though, and there are still things to do. Sometimes, you just need to bring a little extra support with you.

That support comes in the form of the Little Tots Nursing Cover, the first winner of the Smart Parenting Baby Awards for Best Nursing Cover. It provides light, breathable coverage and can also double as a stylish top. Available in various colors and designs, it can also be used as a scarf, poncho, or stroller cover.

Jolly Miranda*, first-time mother, shares:

“Best for working moms na nagpapump. Pwede rin for direct breastfeeding, and since maluwag and stretchy ang tela, comfortable for both mommy and baby. Adjustable siya on both sides with buttons, so madaling i-fit.

What stands out is its multi-use function. High-quality ang material, stylish, at discreet—definitely must-have for nursing moms.”

Baby Monitor

TP-Link Tapo Baby Monitor

When it comes to a baby’s safety, there’s no room for compromise. If parents could keep an eye on their baby at all times, they would. Now, that’s possible right from your mobile phone.

The winner for Best Baby Monitor, the TP-Link Tapo Baby Monitor, offers a flexible and convenient way to monitor your child. This indoor HD camera lets you see, hear, and speak to your baby through your phone. It features infrared night vision for clear video even in low light, as well as motion tracking that follows movement.

It also includes a two-way audio system, allowing you to listen and talk from anywhere. The device can store up to 64 days, or 1,536 hours, of video footage.

Smart Parenting Editor-in-Chief and mom of three Ronna Capili Bonifacio swears by this monitor. "I've sent the link to so many parent friends because they're always so impressed with the quality whenever we show them how we watch over our kids when we're not at home." She adds, "We love that we can easily bring it around, for example, when we travel or staycation, and move it around our home any time we want."

Diaper Bag

Babybee Diaper Bag With Sling Bag

Going out used to be simple. Once you have a baby, it becomes a whole process.

It can take an hour to choose the right bag, another hour to prepare, and yet another hour to pack everything you need.

A good diaper bag has to carry diapers, wipes, clothes, feeding bottles, towels, and more. At the same time, it should be easy to carry, especially when you’re also handling a stroller or holding your baby.

The Babybee Diaper Bag With Sling Bag wins as this year’s Best Diaper Bag. Parents recommend it for its practicality and versatility. It can be used as both a backpack and a sling bag that fits easily on a stroller.

Made from durable, water-resistant Oxford fabric, it’s easy to clean and maintain. It also features spacious compartments and multiple pockets for better organization, insulated bottle pockets to keep drinks at the right temperature, and easy access side pockets for wipes.

Ana Vera* shares:

“Very spacious at convenient gamitin—ang daming pockets, plus waterproof pa. Super worth it for the price. Ang daming kasya na gamit ni baby, kaya sulit talaga. Maganda rin ang color, and madaling i-organize lahat ng items sa loob.”
