  • Guess the Scent
    Ages 15 months and up

Line up bottles or containers of foods items that have various smells: cinnamon, pepper, lemon, vanilla, chocolate, popcorn, tuna, cheese, etc. Play a guessing game with your little tyke. Ask your tot to place his hands over his eyes, or blindfold him lightly. Open one container at a time and let him smell with a slow and soft sniff (a hard sniff may hurt your child’s nose, especially with strong smelling spices such as pepper). Even if your child can’t name the smell yet, he will have fun learning what his nose is for and what the word ‘smell’ means. Play this game whenever you are cooking and baby is near.
