As soon as a child begins speaking any words at all, start encouraging her to say “please” and “thank you Say “thank you” whenever your baby hands you something or when you take something gently from her. Soon, she will learn to imitate you, and in due course, use the words during the right moments. As she gets older, ask baby to repeat requests using “please.” Be consistent about reminding her to ask nicely before you give her what she wants. In addition, don’t forget to say “please,” too, every time you ask her to do something.
