New parents are the best at coming up with hacks and shortcuts that would make their lives easier. With all the tasks and responsibilities, moms and dads need to be creative in order to make life with kids easier. And that’s exactly what this father of triplets did when he realized he and his wife were going through three times as many baby bottles daily — and it meant cleaning them was a pain, not to mention, time-consuming.
Couple Christy and Aerol Paterson, who hails from Nebraska, USA,welcomed their triplets in June 2019, and they quickly realized that three babies meant three times as many clothes, diapers, and bottles. They feed their triplets Natashia, Arya, and Trae, seven times a day or every three hours, meaning they go through about 21 bottles a day. And it’s Aerol’s job to clean them every time.
So, what’s a dad to do? Use a power tool, of course! In a Facebook post, Christyshared a video of Aerolusing a drill bit attached to a baby bottle brush. Once activated, Aerol was able to scrub the inside of each bottle with soapy water in a matter of a few seconds! Genius!
“After doing dishes for so long, I got tired of doing one after another by hand, so I thought, ‘You know what, I wonder if this will fit in the drill’,” Aerol said in an interview with 1011now. “So I put it in the chuck, and it worked.”
Christy, who caught Aerol in the act after grocery shopping, says she was not surprised by the hack that her husband came up with. “He does crazy stuff like that all the time,” she said. “It’s never a dull moment with him, so when I got home I thought it was very comical. I wanted to record him, something to show the kiddos later just for fun.”
Well, the “just for fun” video has resonated with parents everywhere. As of this writing, it has gotten more than 30,000 reactions, 107,000 comments, and 213,000 shares. Most of the comments they’ve gotten are along the lines of, “Why didn’t I think of this?” and honestly, we feel the same way.
“Smarter not harder, bro,” Aerol says in the video. Truer words have never been spoken!
