  • What if my baby doesn't like drinking water?

Dr. Rosanne Sugay gives some advice to parents dealing with a baby who doesn’t like drinking water.
    by Rosanne Sugay, M.D. .
  • Q. What will I do if my one year old doesn't want to drink water? She likes to drink juice and milk only. Is this okay?
    A. Milk intake per day should be limited to about 18 to 24 ounces and juice should be limited to 4 ounces a day at this age. This is because, at this stage, your toddler should start eating more solids to get the necessary vitamins and nutrient for her age. It is okay if your toddler doesn't like water, but do try to introduce it slowly. Remember, it takes ten to 15 tries to get your toddler to take it.
Tip: Try to put the water in an opaque sippy cup so your toddler can taste the water before refusing it. If it is in a clear cup and she can identify the liquid before she drinks it she is more likely to refuse it.
