In recent years, making YouTube videos has become a way for many people to gain fame and recognition, as well as earn money. Some of the most well-known YouTube influencers include children who make content related to subjects such as toys, gaming, and everyday life.
Damian and Deion Camarillo, two siblings who star in the YouTube channel Damian and Deion in Motion, have been making a name for themselves as child influencers. According to a BBC report, the siblings, with the help of their father Eli, started making YouTube videos in 2015. Their channel blew up when a video of Damian and his cousin eating spicy chips went viral. To date, that video has an estimated 7.3 million views.
Damian and Deion in Motion has over 563,000 subscribers. Aside from that, the Camarillos also have other channels including one for their family vlogs and one each for Damian, Deion, and their youngest brother Dominick. Across their channels, the Camarillos have about a million subscribers in total. Eli tells BBC that the videos on the Damian and Deion in Motion channel attract an estimated 13 million views per month.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
As for their earnings, Eli says they make between $400,000 and $1 million per year. BBC writes that regular toy shipments and sponsorships help their posts and supplement the family’s income.
The Camarillos make so much through their YouTube channel that the boys’ dad Eli quit his job in the healthcare industry three years ago. Still, they tell BBC that their goal is to improve their status as YouTube influencers, like that being enjoyed by Ryan Kaji, the eight-year-old behind the channel Ryan’s World, which currently has over 24 million subscribers.
Ryan makes content related to pretend play, science experiments, DIY arts and crafts projects, toy unboxing, and more. In 2019 alone, he earned $26 million and topped Forbes’ list of the highest-paid stars.
“That kid makes $25 million a year,” Eli tells BBC. “Why wouldn’t you want to be there? I think that’s the goal.”CONTINUE READING BELOWRecommended Videos
Damian, who is now 12 years old, also says that though his schoolmates consider him famous, he doesn’t consider himself to be that. He adds that his goal is to reach a million subscribers on a single YouTube channel.
He tells BBC, “I feel like a big YouTuber, but we’re still kind of small. We’re getting there.”
