Watch her dance up a storm to "Shut Up and Dance" and "I Wanna Dance with Somebody"

  • When someone tells you that you can’t do something, you go ahead and wallow in self-pity. But then quickly pick yourself up and show your detractor what he's missing. And that’s exactly what a 6-year-old with Down Syndrome did after she was rejected from joining a dance studio.

Canadian Ana Malaniuk  is seen in the video above rocking dance moves to the songs "Shut Up and Dance" by Walk the Moon and "I Wanna Dance With Somebody by Whitney Houston" in a video uploaded to Facebook. Her routine has now gotten over 200,000 views as of this writing!

Sonja, Ana’s mom, told CTV News that she’s “super proud of her daughter” and is grateful to the Academy of Dance, which accepted her daughter and gave her the opportunity to live out her passion.

She also imparts this inspiring message to other moms and dads of children with special needs. “If another studio or another sport says no to your child, just keep at it, because someone else out there will give you a chance.”
