'Baby Shark' Is Getting a TV Show! Parents Groan, 'We're All Doomed'Brace yourself, parents!by Kitty Elicay .
It’s been almost four years since “Baby Shark” became an earworm and gave parents and kids alike perpetual LSS (last song syndrome), but it looks like their popularity isn’t going to wane any time soon. That’s because children’s network Nickelodeon is creating a TV show based on the catchy tune!
According to various reports, SmartStudy, the Korean company behind the children’s content brand Pinkfong, which made the viral song, is teaming up with Nickelodeon to create an animated series for preschoolers and a product line based on the Shark family.
There are no details yet on when the series will premiere or how long the episodes would be (and when it will get here), but Nickelodeon executives are clearly excited for this new project. “’Baby Shark’ has captured the imagination of millions of fans around the world, so it’s no surprise it’s one of the top 10 most-viewed videos on YouTube ever,” said Ramsey Naito, executive vice-president of Nickelodeon Animation, to Deadline.

“At the heart of any popular piece of content is a terrific character, and we have a great opportunity to further explore the world of ‘Baby Shark’ and follow his family through some great animated adventures on Nickelodeon,” he adds.
This is not the first time Nickelodeon has sought out content from other platforms. In April 2019, YouTube star Ryan of Ryan ToysReview also got a preschool TV series courtesy of the network, titled Ryan’s Mystery Playdate.
“Baby Shark” launched in November 2015 and quickly became a viral hit, amassing 2.9 billion YouTube views (probably because kids need to watch and sing along to it at least 10 times a day) and becoming the ninth most-watched video in the platform’s history, according to Nickelodeon. It also spawned the #BabySharkChallenge, which produced over 700,000 cover videos from around the world.
