  • Bed-wetting is a normal part of a child’s development. Most children are toilet-trained between age 2 and 4, but some may not be able to stay dry throughout the night until they are older.

Many parents opt to delay letting their children sleep without diapers until they’re older. Others suggest that kids learn to hold their pee better if they’re inconvenienced — they either wake up, or endure lying on a wet mattress.

    What is a bed-wetting alarm?

The aim is to teach your child to wake up and pee in the bathroom instead of the bed. But more than that, using an alarm will alert you to change sheets ASAP. Doing this will at least salvage the mattress, keeping it dry to prevent bacteria that can cause skin infections from thriving. Of course, you also don't want the urine smell pervading the bedroom.

Most bed-wetting alarms have sensors on the bed or on your child’s bottoms. These sensors are connected to a device that sends signals to you or your child to tell you he’s wet the bed. Other designs literally just sound off quite loudly to wake you or your child up.

Along with vibrations and light alerts, its sound alarm automatically cycles through five loud alert tones. It also comes with a free mobile app.

Bedwetting alarms don’t come cheap, especially if they make good on their promise to help train your child not to wet the bed by rousing him up to go to the bathroom and pee. Still, they might be what your child needs to stay dry through the night.
