WATCH: This Dad Bonds With His Kid By Making Action Movies! This dad managed to share his passion with his young son, and they are both having a blast.by Rachel Perez .
How do you tell your kid that he can do anything he puts his heart and mind into? Show it to them, although doing it the way this dad is a bit of stretch (okay, impossible) for most of us.
Dreamworks after-effects artist Daniel Hashimoto, Hashie to his friends, makes action movies starring his son, James. He shoots his son's real-life everyday adventures, and then incorporate awesome special effects into the video, as one would expect of a father who worked on How to Train Your Dragon and Kung Fu Panda. The result is, of course, amazing.
They started the video project two years ago when James was only 4 years old, but he already had an imaginative mind even then. Daniel told The Creator Show that they limited James' exposure in the media and allowed him to get bored "because we really think boredom is a key ingredient to a good imagination." James would only watch one movie a week, and it would inspire his "stunts" for an entire week or more.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
The videos are in the form of snippets, 15-second videos, but Daniel compiled them in volumes. Watch the first compilation that includes the first viral video where he had James play with a Star Wars light saber in Toys R Us, complete with The Matrix code superhero stunts, fireworks, boiling lava, and a lots of blasts!

The feedback from the videos was so phenomenal that it sprouted more videos. This second video features James playing Mario Kart and "performing" death-defying stunts such as traversing the outside of a balcony and sky jumping, playing hide-and-seek with heat-seeking goggles and more!
Robots are James' allies in this third compitalion. It's also the video where his younger sister Sophia, now 19 months old, debuts.
Here's their latest video compilation:

Daniel and his wife Mandy Richardville, whose creative outlet is baking custom chocolates for parties and events from her home kitchen, have came out with a storybook of the same name that chronicles a regular boy's imagination, as he defends his own universe from monsters, aliens, and robots. An Action Movie Kid movie is reportedly underway, too.
The Action Movie Kid's YouTube channel now has over 580,000 subscribers. Daniel says the videos he and his son make remind him that life is an adventure. He hopes that with their videos and book, other parents get one takeway, "If, as a parent, you engage your child's imaginative play, you can kind of create these really fun memories for them," Daniel tells CBS News. "Allow your kids to get bored. It will make their imaginations better," he says.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
Brace yourself for more videos. Little Sophia is just getting in on the action. "I believe that she has some true superpowers. I believe she has the ability to move things with her mind as her emotions dictate," Daniel says. "I have a feeling that some sibling rivalry is in order."
