Kaka-Grocery Lang Ubos Na Kaagad? Try Super Effective Trick To Control Your Kids' SnackingYou can also use it to control hubby's cravings!by Kitty Elicay .
With the enhanced community quarantine in place, most families have resorted to bulk-buying grocery items so parents can lessen the number of times that they go out of the house. (Check out supermarkets where you can order online here.) The problem: With kids around 24/7, snacks also get depleted in record time. Frustrated with this scenario, one mom devised a clever trick to get her kids to snack in moderation!
On Instagram, mom Erin Merryn from Illinois, USA posted a smiling photo of her two daughters Abby and Hannah (with their adorable cat, Carrot) holding two baskets filled with snacks. She then shares her simple hack.
“Parents, here is a great idea. Now that the kids are home for a few weeks, you are probably constantly hearing, ‘I’m hungry!’ every morning,” Erin writes as a caption for the photo.
She adds, “Every morning, give them each a basket filled with snacks. Tell them they can eat these throughout the day but once their basket is empty, they can’t be asking for more.”
And it seems Erin isn’t the only mother who does this. On Facebook, another momma named Jennifer Hallstrom shares that she uses the same basket trick on her three kids.
She writes, “It makes them stop and think do I really need a snack? I also put their cup for the day in there because I’m not washing 50 cups a day! Hahaha!”ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
Jennifer clarifies that the baskets are for snacks only — her children still eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner. “They are well-fed and I don’t starve them [laughing emoji] sad I even have to say that. Also, in no way shape or form am I fat shaming my children [facepalm emoji] I just don’t have the luxury of spending $400 on just snacks for a week [shrug emoji].”
On our Facebook group Smart Parenting Village, one mom actually shared Jennifer’s post and a few others thought it’s a really good idea.
“Since wala nang pasok si ate maya’t maya naman ang pagkain as in kakatapos lang mag-lunch kakain na naman,” one mom shared. “Ang hirap lang din kasi lumabas sa sitwasyon ngayon… baka hindi umabot ng one month [ang] stock namin!”
However, two other moms shared they think another member of the family will benefit from the trick: the dads!CONTINUE READING BELOWRecommended Videos
“In our case, dapat maimplement sa panganay este asawa ko!” said one mom.
“Wish I could do this, but I have to start with their daddy first,” another mom commented. LOL!
