It is said that one of the biggest faults of the new generation of parents is not giving their kids enough responsibilities. In wanting what they deem to be the best for their children, they unwittingly deprive them of an important life lesson on independence. The term used for it is 'overparenting,' and it could prove to be damaging to our kids.
The tendency to overparent is stronger especially when a family is well-to-do, as in the case of many celebrity families. If not the parents themselves, there's always help available, thanks to able yayas and kasambahays. It's easy to fall into the trap. But, these celebrity parents beg to differ by starting their kids young with age-appropriate household chores. Kudos to them!
