In an interview with Karen Davila, Chito clarified that Pia, whom they fondly call nicknames such as Ate P or Piatot, is a gift from God.
"We consider her as a gift po from God, from heaven talaga yan. Kasi parang lagi namin sinasabi, we were always discussing, some children are born of you, and sometimes god chooses the parents for them and that's the role that we're playing, we just consider her as a gift talaga, and she'll be legally ours soon," Chito told Karen in her vlog.
Chito added, "She is such a good ate kay Miggy pati kay Cash. Such a blessing talaga, kasi makikita mo alagang-alaga niya. And Miggy also mahal na mahal din siya."
Chito explained that Pia just came into their lives like it's meant to happen. "Basta dumating yung point na we decided to get her to be part of our family na."
Neri said, Pia is their daughter since day 1. "Kanina lang nag-walk sila sa subdivision, holding hands sila, sobrang nakakamelt."
The couple hopes that Pia will soon be legally their child.

She stressed, "Adoption is not just for those who are not able to conceive biological children. It's not just for those who can't have children or got married older, adoption is really about giving a family to a child and anyone can do that."
Karen asked Chito if he wants Pia to carry his surname. "Sa akin importante because para lang to avoid confusion. Kasi when I told her na we want her to be legally ours, sabi niya, "Finally! I can call you daddy!" Yun na yung importante sa akin, everything is just formalities, yun lang yung goal, I just want her to be ours."
