When it comes to parenting, a little paranoia — just a tiny bit — can be helpful. It keeps moms and dads alert and on their feet to ward off health dangers and safety issues that can befall our precious little bundles of joy.
Last year, single mom and actress LJ Reyes launched a project very close to her heart, a smart mommy app called MApp. The app offers useful information for moms based how the mompreneur described it. "We try to consolidate all the places that have changing areas, breastfeeding rooms...categorized according to like, restaurants, lifestyle — they can find it in the app."
A year later since its inception, LJ came up with another idea that will resonate will other moms. She often found herself worrying about the safety of her 7-year-old son, Aki, even after having prepared the household what to do, where to go, and who to call when an emergency strikes.

Instead of giving Aki a mobile phone, LJ looked for a watch so she can get in touch with him and track him down when there's an emergency. "And I realized it’s not just for natural calamities anymore but more importantly for daily safety and communication with him," LJ wrote in an article on MApp's website. The single mom tried tracking watches from local online stores but found them difficult to use.
Her research led her to DokiWatch, which claims to be the world's most advanced kids' smartwatch. LJ became such a believer of the product's features that she brought the watch to the country. You can send a text message to the watch, and it supports video calls through the phone app to the dokiWatch. "I love it because I can easily see him when I miss him! And if there’s an emergency I know I can calm him down or assure him if he can see me!" the single mom writes.

Another cool feature of the DokiWatch, which costs P9,995, is its emergency button. "When you press [the dokiWatch's SOS button], it will send the location of your child wearing the watch and record 60 seconds of audio," LJ said. The recording can give you a partial idea of what is happening with your child. It also offers a secure connection as it enables you to set your child's contact list. Only those in the list can call and send messages to your kid’s watch.
