  • It's that time of the year when everyone shares the results of their Spotify Wrapped 2022 on social media. Just one look, we can already spot who the parents are!

As we looked back to the songs we've listened to and the bands we've followed this year, some parents expected to see more of Olivia Rodrigo or Taylor Swift in our roundups.

But no. Encanto soundtracks and other nursery rhymes dominated our playlists, and we know why.

Here are some Spotify Wrapped 2022 results of parents that we found online.

New mom Angelica Panganiban shared her top songs for 2022, and she said that Spotify knows the season she's in right now. She said, "Nanay na nanay ako this year sa Spotify."

We were surprised to see that Mommy Victoria, who is always chic and fashionable on social media, has the popular TikTok song Paru-Paro G as one of her most-played songs. She didn't need to explain but she said, "Favorite yan ni Seiya. Pati yung Sun and Moon," she told Smart Parenting. "Actually, lahat ng songs na nasa list. Hahaha!"

Benefits of playing music at home

Studies have shown that adding music to your child's daily routine has many benefits. In a previous Smart Parenting article, Luisa Huisman Koops discussed, "Parenting musically is the way I describe what happens when moms and dads use music for many nonmusical tasks and goals. These activities can involve everyday things or ways to better relate to one another."

"For example, a mother can sing a song to help cue her kids to brush their teeth. Or a father can use a playlist to make Saturday morning chores more fun. Children can also sing songs with grandparents through videoconferencing as a way to deepen their emotional bonds. These are just some of the ways to get children to see the richness in the ways they can experience the world through music," she said. That explains it!

Songs for motivation and me time

Meanwhile, Mommy Regina Singian, a member of the Smart Parenting Village got fewer nursery rhyme songs on her top 5 this year, but more self-love and women empowerment-themed songs. That's because she's working from home, caring and tandem-feeding her two little kids, and managing a small business all at the same time. Laban, mommy!
