There’s always a first time for everything – for many women, that includes being a mother. A mother’s instinct, which has been said to come on instantly after having a baby, may come with deep love and instant connection. However, it does not come with expertise at changing diapers or at deciphering a newborn’s cry. For many mommies, mothering is an acquired skill that is honed with a lot of practice.
It is not surprising that many new mothers will have more than one ‘blooper’ during the first few days and weeks of being one. Every boo-boo will undoubtedly come with a few laughs and a little bit of guilt. We asked some mothers to share their own first-time boo-boos.

(There was a time when I was changing my son’s diapers when he suddenly peed while I was holding his legs up. His pee went straight into his mouth. I panicked and called his pedia immediately because I was worried he might get an infection from his own pee.)
