Son's Promise to Mom Isabel Granada: 'I Will Never Stop Making You Proud'The teenager has yet to come to terms with his mom's untimely death.by Allan Olga .
Isabel Granada’s 14-year-old son Hubert still hasn't come to terms with his mom’s untimely death. But while he is heartbroken that his mom is gone, he said in an interview that he also does not want to forget the good memories he had with her growing up.
Isabel, 41, passed away last November 4 after being on comatose due to an aneurysm for almost two weeks.
During an interview with Smart Parenting, Hubert recalled wonderful memories with his mom, the invaluable lessons she had taught him, and how proud he is of her. Hubert is Isabel’s son with ex-husband Jericho Aguas.
Proud of mom
At his mom’s wake at the Santuario de San Jose Parish in East Greenhills, San Juan, Hubert expressed how proud he is that his mom had touched many lives, and that they all came to pay their last respects.
“Very overwhelming po. Talagang it makes me proud. She did so [many] good things to cause all these people to come. Nakaka-touch po. It warms the heart,” he said.

He also said that it is only now that he met some of his mom's batchmates in That’s Entertainment, the youth-oriented TV show of GMA-7 during the 80s and 90s that discovered and produced a number of successful celebrities.
What made him even prouder was when Isabel was given military honors by the Philippine Air Force (PAF) when her remains arrived in the Philippines from Doha, Qatar last Thursday, November 9. Isabel enlisted in the PAF in 2001 and was an Airwoman Second Class.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
“Nabigla po talaga ako na marami rin po siyang service sa Air Force. Nakukuwento niya po na she became a pilot, pero not [a] high position po.
“It makes (me) so proud,” beamed Hubert, who studies at OB Montessori in Angeles City, Pampanga.
Isabel as a mom
Hubert’s parents have been separated for a few years and he has been in the care of his dad eversince. He explained that through it all, his mom duly fulfilled her duties to him. He describes Isabel as “very supportive, even after the situation of my mom and dad, since I was left with my dad.
“Even if she’s far, she does everything she can to see me; we communicate.”
What are the values that his Mommy Isabel inculcated in him?
“Yung pagiging religious, that’s first. Yung mga talents ko, wag ko daw itago dahil majority galing sa kanya,” he replies, and adds that he got his mom’s good singing voice.CONTINUE READING BELOWRecommended Videos
“Syempre po yung pag-aaral ko, wag na wag ko daw po pababayaan.”
Message to mom
The teenager mentioned that even if Isabel is no longer around, he will make sure to make her proud of him.
“Ma, we all love you. We’re all here for you,” he says.
“Though you’re not here with us—I know, we all know—you’re watching over us.
“Just be happy and I will never stop making you proud.
“No matter what happens, I will continue to make you proud, also papa.”
