  • As a homeschool mom, I am always on the lookout for high quality children’s books to add to our growing home library. I usually look for these at pre-loved or secondhand bookstores so that I can buy more books at the same cost of buying one brand new book (I once was able to buy 12 books for P700 — not bad, right?)

Imagine my delight then, when a fellow homeschool mom decided to set up an online bookshop, The Learning Basket, with her friend (who is also a homeschooling preschool mom). She did this mainly because she had been receiving a lot of positive feedback and inquiries from parents who came across her blog.

    How The Learning Basket began
The Learning Basket only started serving children and their families in early 2012. It is mainly a curator-seller of pre-loved children’s books and advocates the love of reading and homeschooling in the preschool years. It does not have a physical storefront yet, but its online site has already been receiving numerous orders from parents (a lot of their books have actually been sold out!).

Because of my own family’s love for books, reading and homeschooling, I jumped at the chance to interview the two homeschool-moms-turned-mompreneurs behind The Learning Basket. So, without further ado, meet Mariel Uyquiengco and Rosanne Unson!
