Preschool consists of nursery and kindergarten levels and targets children aged 3-6 years. It is a current trend to enroll even younger kids in infant and toddler classes, and later preschool to give them a headstart in formal schooling. This level of education is not compulsory (Ibe, 2003); however, if your child has special educational needs, early intervention programs can be readily available at the following schools.
There is a wide range of services that can help children with developmental needs. Special Education takes into consideration students who do not usually fit the regular curriculum and is focused on a curriculum that can help “normalize” the development of your child. While different types of therapy (physical, occupational, or speech) can also augment your child’s progress as sessions with therapists are often individualized.
