  • Looking for new additions to your little one's growing library? Let a few Pinoy celebrity parents of toddlers suggest good reading material for your next story time session. Here are a few ideas on what to buy the next time you're at the children's section of the bookstore:

    Nursery rhyme books
Books with rhyme, rhythm and repeated text are perfect for toddlers. They’re fun to read or sing aloud to and your child can even learn the words by heart and pretend to “read” — just like Scarlet Snow Belo, daughter of Vicki Belo and Hayden Kho, did with her Baa, Baa, Black Sheep board book.

    Board book classics
Beloved children's book classics are a no-brainer. They're already adored by kids all over the world so chances are high your tot's going to as well! And, they make a great addition to your little one's library.

For Lucia, mom Bianca Gonzalez chose Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?, Sam McBratney and Anita Jeram's Guess How Much I Love You, and Sandra Boynton's Barnyard Dance among others.

    Books in your child’s interests
Your toddler is learning a lot so fast and starting to discover a preference for her favorite things. Take this into consideration when reading to her and choosing books for story time.

Rica Peralejo's son Philip loves dinosaurs so the mom, who is a bookworm herself, was happy that he received a book on one as a present. “I am always so happy when we get gifts that are perfect for his interests at the moment,” she said in a post on Instagram.

Books that mom and dad loved as a child
What's the first book you fell in love with? Jennica Garcia shares that she loved The Spiderwick Chronicles series as a child. As a mom, it makes her heart happy that her daughter Mori loves them too.

“Masaya ako 'pag Spiderwick ang gusto ni Mori na ipabasa sa amin,” she writes on Instagram. “For very young children who enjoy read-alouds, this exact book entitled Fantastical Observations is something that will keep them interested for quite some time because there are black and white, sketch-type images of the beings in every other page.”
