  • Nearsightedness. Nearsighted people can see objects closely but cannot see distant objects clearly. “Most parents come to see us only if they see their kids squinting in front of the television,” relates Joanne Bolinao, M.D., pediatric ophthalmologist. “Most of the time kids are just attracted to the colors, but if they watch television with their eyes close to the screen, it’s a sign they cannot see clearly from afar.” Another sign is when kids hold a material or read something too close to their faces.
