‘My First Love’: Mavy Legaspi’s Bday Message For Carmina Villaroel Is Heartwarming For Boy Moms
  • All parents know exactly where Mavy Legaspi took his birthday greeting for mom Carmina Villarroel. It’s from the popular Robert Munsch book Love You Forever. He opened his Instagram post birthday greeting with “happy birthday to my first love, @mina_villarroel.”

He then proceeded to quote Munsch:

    “I’ll love you forever,
    I’ll like you for always,
    As long as I’m living,
    My Mommy you’ll be.”

But of course, instead of using “My baby you’ll be”, he changed it to “My Mommy you’ll be.” And all boy moms can’t deny that that switch tugged on our heartstrings. Mavy also included a throwback picture of him and his mom when he was a young boy, and it just reminded us of the reality that our young sons will one day grow up to be young men.

Perhaps calling his mom Carmina his first love is a bittersweet reminder for moms with Kyline Alcantara’s recent confirmation that Mavy is her boyfriend. Carmina replied to her son, “Awwww. So cute kuya @mavylegaspi. Thank you. I love you my favorite baby boy.”

During the recent GMA Gala Night 2022, Mavy also expressed that he is a proud mama’s boy. He captioned a photo of himself and his mom, “with the most beautiful woman in the gala. Mama’s boy til’ the day that I die.”

Kyline, who was also at the same gala replied face holding back tears emoji to this particular post of Mavy.

We can’t deny that we love seeing this public display of affection from son to mama.

3 Things Boys Learn From Their Mothers

Studies have been made in the recent past, particularly of a mother’s effects and contributions in their son’s lives. While it does not necessitate that only mothers can create this effect in a boy’s life, it is encouraging to know that science does have data on how a mother’s love can build up a young man.

Below are just three (of the many!) things boys can learn from their mothers.

    1. Emotional and psychological strength

“Far from making boys weaker, the love of a mother can and does actually make boys stronger, emotionally and psychologically,” says William Pollack PhD. Contrary to the idea that a mother’s love can “baby” a boy, experts say that it provides safety and a “connection that her son can rely on all his life” reports Family Education in an article entitled What Sons Learn From Their Mothers.

    2. Intimacy skills and developing respect for other women

The same article explains that a boy’s intimacy skills can be learned from his mother. “A strong loving relationship with a good mother can help a boy learn the skills of intimacy, support him in developing respect for other women, and prepare him for a satisfying relationship someday.”

Perhaps this is because mothers help sons grown in their emotional intelligence. Telegram.com explains in a 2012 article that moms teach their sons to identify and express their emotions. “Mothers often nurture emotional intelligence in their sons, teaching them to recognize and express their own feelings and to be more attuned to the feelings of others.”

    3. Self-control and becoming more articulate.

Being able to understand and express their feelings allows boys to perform better in school. “Boys not only become more articulate—which helps with reading and writing skills, but also have better self-control in the classroom,” reports the article by Kate Lombardi entitled 5 reasons the mother-son relationship is so important.
