The 5 Best Nursing Bras
Did you know there are quite a number of nursing bras out there that address different needs? Here’s the lowdown.by Ines Bautista-Yao .
Before I gave birth almost three years ago, I bought a couple of nursing bras from Marks & Spencer. I thought they were very comfortable but they were incredibly thin. I had to buy cotton breast shields so I could wear them out and still look decent. And even then, the round shields could be seen through my tops. Someone actually asked me why I had round things under my bra. It was very embarrassing. Good thing I could use breastfeeding and leaking as an excuse. Eventually, I ordered padded nursing bras from abroad and was incredibly happy with them. You, however, are much luckier because you can finally find the bra you need here in the Philippines! Check out the favorites of the nursing moms I surveyed.

Photo 1 of 7This brand is a favorite among nursing moms. It has a seamless t-shirt bra line, a lacy line, and a nursing bra and girdle all in one. But the interesting item is the nursing bra with infrared that is supposed to help increase lactation. The infrared brings up your body temperature by two degrees Celsius, which should help produce milk. So why not give it a try? Available at Mama.Baby.Love: http://fabnaima.multiply.com

Photo 2 of 7This designer nursing bra offers flexible sizing. You know how your bra size changes as you nurse and as your baby’s milk needs increase and decrease? After a year, I actually felt my breasts shrink inside what felt like my gigantic nursing bras. If you get the Bravado nursing bra with flexible sizing, you’ll have a choice of three rib bands and two to three cup sizes! Available at Mama.Baby.Love: http://fabnaima.multiply.com and Rustan’s.

Photo 3 of 7Before I gave birth, I never slept with a bra on. I always found it so uncomfortable. But when you’ve got leaking breasts and are in dire need of support, you need to sleep with a bra on. If that bra has an underwire, you’re just asking for even more sleepless nights than you’ve already got. Fabulous Mom has a sleep bra that is comfortable, flexible and stretchy (no worries about how to correctly pull it to the side even if you’re not fully awake), and it comes in different prints. The best part? It’s affordable too. Available at Mama.Baby.Love: http://fabnaima.multiply.com

Photo 4 of 7They don’t just make the breast pumps we all love, they make intimate apparel as well. And since they’re in the business of helping nursing moms get the best breastfeeding experience possible, their bras are comfortable (no underwire) and seamless, and the silky fabric adjusts to growing breast sizes. The big plus: the soft fabric feels like air when your nipples are sore, cracked, and bleeding. Available at the Medela House. Call 0917-5614366, 725-3723, 738-6272 or 964-7331

Photo 5 of 7The breastfeeding support group makes bras too! Besides the bras everyone else makes (seamless, t-shirt, lacy), La Leche League also has the pumping bra. It has a second layer for hands-free pumping! So get cozy with a magazine and the use of both your hands while the breast pump does all the work. Available at Mama.Baby.Love: http://fabnaima.multiply.com

Photo 6 of 7If you’ve always loved pretty, printed bras, then stock up on these! Being a mommy doesn’t mean giving up on cute underwear. In fact, they even have sexy ones you can wear if you want to feel a bit more like yourself after surviving the sleepless nights of the first few weeks. Who said breastfeeding wasn’t fashionable? Debenhams can be found in Rustan’s Makati, Shangri-La Plaza Mall, and Trinoma
