"How do I deal with infertility within my budget?"Getting pregnant can be a struggle for some couples. On top of that, if there is a potential infertility issue, there are costs to consider. OB Gyne, Dr. Stephanie Hipos-Supan enlightens us on this topic.
Gusto naming magpa-check-up pareho at mag pa-laboratory na mura. Kaya lang wala naman akongg alam na Ob-Gyne na puwede kaming magpatingin mag-asawa. Sana po mabigyan niyo ako ng magandang advice. Thanks! (We’ve been trying to get pregnant for three years but to no avail. My husband has no vices and I just stay at home. I resigned from my job and we’ve tried so many ways but I still haven’t gotten pregnant. We want to be checked up and undergo affordable laboratory tests. However, I don’t know any OB Gynes. We hope you can give us some good advice on this).ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOWCONTINUE READING BELOWRecommended Videos
Question: How can we address the reader’s apprehension on costs? Is it really expensive to undergo fertility check-ups and lab tests?
Answer: Most people equate fertility work-up with the test tube baby which is really expensive. However there are certain procedures which are much cheaper which can be done before resorting to test tube baby.
Consultations fees are usually the same as ob-gyn consults. Previous lab results should be brought to avoid repetition. Here are estimates of certain fertility procedures which may vary depending on where the tests are done:
P800-2,500 per test
Fallopian tube test
P1,250 up (depending on the dose)
P3,500 up (depending on the dose)
In-vitro or Test tube baby
Consult your fertility specialist for a discussion of all these options and their costs.
