  • Now five months pregnant, Jessy Mendiola revealed that it has been a rollercoaster ride so far.

Together with husband Luis Manzano, Jessy shared her pregnancy journey in her YouTube vlog. She admits, that they struggled to get pregnant and even came to a point where they almost lost hope. She shared that ever since they got married, their supporters have been waiting for them to have a baby. Finally, she said, "Inantay nalang namin na ibigay samin ni Lord."

They announced the news in a vlog, on August 11.

    Excited for 'Peanut'

Luis' parents, Vilma Santos and Edu Manzano, were among the first ones to know, and even his stepdad Ralph Recto was very much supportive about their little one they nicknamed "Peanut."

Jessy listed what she'll miss most now that she's going to be a mom, including high-intensity workouts and certain foods like sashimi and steak.

For Luis, who vowed that he will try to be the best dad to their baby and partner to Jessy, transitioning into a father makes him want to be a better person and work harder for their growing family, "Gusto ko pa magsipag.

Luis in his role as 'Best supporting father'

Luis has been with Jessy every step of the way and admits that it feels surreal, especially when she had her first prenatal checkup. "Tunganga si Luis. Nakatulala lang siya," she recounts.

And when Jessy suffered from food poisoning in her sixth week of pregnancy, Luis rushed her to the hospital. "Never pa ko nakakita ng ganun kadaming beses na magbanyo," he said.

Thus, Jessy can't help but be extra clingy, as she doesn't have any pregnancy food cravings aside from Luis.

Excited and nervous, Jessy said she can't wait to be a mom, and Luis is also looking forward to what kind of mom will Jessy be.

Both of them know it won't be an easy ride, but they have each other. "Hindi biro maging magulang. Di biro napagdaaan ng mga magulang ko. It's not always rainbows and butterflies.

    Jessy: 'Lean on your partner'

Jessy revealed that Luis wants to have a baby girl, while she wants to have a baby boy. They will hold their gender reveal in three weeks, they said.

"Sabay-sabay tayo matuto, kung kayo ngayon medyo nangangapa pa, we're on the same boat," Luis to first-time parents

He assured Jessy, "Before dumating si Peanut, you are my wife, and I'm happy that we're together in this journey. I know for a fact that you'll be a selfless, loving mother, and I know it won't be easy, but I can promise you I'll have your hand the whole way through."

Jessy, meanwhile, tells her fellow expecting moms that they should not be afraid to ask for help. "Lean on your partner.

Sabay ninyo pagdadaanan yan.

I'm so happy that you are my husband, ikaw ang panganay ko, aalagaan kita talaga din."

Perinatal Anxiety & Depression Australia (PANDA) says, dads also experience physical, emotional, mental, and social changes too, and seeking help should be normalized. After all, although the wife is physically pregnant, both of you are building a family.
