  • Beauty queen and actress Katarina Rodriguez opens up about the changes in her body that she experienced as a soon-to-be mom.

The former Miss World Philippines sat down in a Youtube vlog to detail the first part of her pregnancy. Katarina shared that she initially thought that she had symptoms for COVID-19 until she found out loss of sense of taste or change of taste can also be an indication of pregnancy.

"I lost my sense of taste, I was so tired akala ko may COVID ako," she said.

After taking a pregnancy test, which confirmed that she is carrying a baby, Katarina said that other pregnancy symptoms started to manifest.

First of them was weight gain. She noted that she gained 15 pounds in the first month of her pregnancy.

She also began craving for foods that she  didn't like before like pasta, pizza, and french fries. She said that according to her OB/GYN, pregnant women tend to "crave for foods that contain nutrients that your body needs."

Aside from physical changes, Katarina went point by point about the changes in her demeanor that she observed like being "lazy" and being not in the mood to fix herself.

"Beauty queen me, fashionista Katarina, if she looks back, she gonna be like 'whoah' at all of her (pregnant) outfits," she shares.

Another interesting change she observed during the earlier parts of her pregnancy has something to do with a supernatural ability.

"I could see people's auras. I could see color outlining people. It started with Nino's neice, she had this purple and pink aura that outlined her. The next day, it was on everyone," she narrated.

"I've been getting a lot of messages as to why I don't have stretch marks, and here is my answer, I actually do have stretch marks," Katarina said in the caption.

She also keeps it real on admitting that she made efforts to prevent pregnancy stretch marks and it did bother her when it started showing up. But now, Katarina has learned to embrace her emerging "tiger stripes".

"I then learned that stretch marks are genetic and there's not much you can do to prevent them from appearing if its genetic. So I had no choice but to embrace them," she said.

Many appreciated Katarina's body positivity post including celebrity mom Angel Jones who commented, "I love my pregnancy marks. You’re gorgeous momma."

Aside from Katarina, many celebrities like Andi Eigenmann who said that her stretch marks after pregnancy are reminders of how amazing how amazing women's bodies are. Lara Quigaman, Kylie Padilla, and Denise Laurel have also come forward to bare their "tiger stripes" and send a message that the beauty of motherhood goes beyond skin deep.
