Seek prenatal counseling as early as possible, advises Dr. Ang-Jimenez. Your doctor can give suggestions on how you can best care for your pregnant self. Some forms of exercise may be restricted, or you may be asked to avoid sexual intercourse.

Traveling, especially to areas where it would be difficult to receive prompt medical care, may not be a good idea, too. Avoid environmental hazards such as x-rays and infectious diseases as well.
