Trying To Get Pregnant? This Wearable Gadget Predicts Your Safe And Fertile DaysIt says it can give you accurate data on your fertile days.by Kitty Elicay .
Getting pregnant is tricky business — yes, there’s always a 50-50 chance that a couple who have sex will conceive, especially if both of them don’t have any reproductive issues, but having a baby may not be as easy for other couples. There are however, some things you can do to increase your chances of getting pregnant. One of them is to know when you are ovulating so you can time intercourse during your ovulation days.
But how do you know you’re ovulating? There are “manual” ways to track it, like taking note of your basal body temperature (BBT), using an app, or peeing on ovulation test kits to monitor your hormone levels. But all these can be tedious and confusing! For something simpler, did you know that there’s a wearable tech out there that can predict your ovulation days for you?ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOWCONTINUE READING BELOWRecommended Videos
The Tempdrop looks like a fitness tracker, but instead of monitoring your activities, it uses two temperature sensors and an acceleration sensor to track the rise of your basal body temperature (BBT) that occurs when you ovulate.
It all begins with your sleep. According to the Tempdrop website, your body temperature “oscillates to create your very own sleeping pattern.” The wearable will then learn and pinpoint your nightly and monthly temperature patterns and help you whether you’re trying to avoid (TTA) pregnancy or trying to conceive (TTC). If you’re postpartum, have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), or are a light or heavy sleeper, Tempdrop will deliver “accurate data that’s tailored to you.”
Ovulation days or your “fertile window” only averages five to 10 days in a month, depending on your menstrual cycle. During this time, your luteinizing hormone surges and triggers your ovary to release the egg that is most ripe to be fertilized. The egg only has 12 to 24 hours to be fertilized after your ovary releases it.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
With this wearable, tracking your ovulation is easier than ever. You can push the data to the tracking app of your choice and time your sexual intercourse based on that data. It can also help those with PCOS — the disorder can cause rocky temperature trends due to hormonal imbalances, but by using your wearable every night, it can detect your nightly sleeping temperature and give you accurate temperature readings so you know whether you’ve ovulated or not.
Sounds too good to be true? Wired.com recently named it the "Best Ovulation Predictor," and it's been around since 2014, so you can definitely read different reviews online before making a purchase.
Tempdrop retails at $149 (around Php7,572). It is not yet available locally, but you can order from their website (www.temp-drop.com) and get free international shipping.
