It’s difficult to squeeze in some me-time especially when you have a toddler and you have another one on the way. But what can you do when you find yourself exhausted or ordered to get some bed rest? Here are some things you can try out.
1) Pamper yourself
This does not necessarily mean going to the parlor or the spa. It can be as simple as getting some home treatments. Do your nails, fix your eyebrows, have an old-fashioned foot scrub, or even cajole your hubby to give you a nice back rub. Just make sure to check with your doctor what safe home treatments you can have while pregnant.
2) Read a good book in bed
Maybe you used to love reading before you got pregnant but now find it difficult with a little one who can’t sleep with the light one. Get yourself a good LED book light available at Fully Booked and Power books.

Why not just enjoy watching TV in bed. Develop a following for a TV series or just watch some old favorites that you’ve collected. It wouldn’t hurt to really indulge in being a couch potato for a while.
4) Movie date with the husband
Remember those movie dates you used to enjoy when you and your husband were still dating? They don’t have to disappear in the past. Maybe it will be hard for you to catch a good movie once a week but try scheduling it within one month. Make sure you’re well enough, though, because movie houses are places you can catch a bug. Make sure to schedule your movie date early so you can rush home to your kids if you need to. Or if your doctor ordered you to stay in bed, then turn it into a DVD movie night, instead.

Now that you’re a mom, it doesn’t mean that you have to let go of all the fun and games you used to enjoy. If you were a gaming addict, try out Pet Society on Facebook. Just lug the handy laptop in bed. It may be a far cry from World of Warcraft but it’s a cheap and easy distraction for a harassed mom.
6) Catch up with the virtual world
When you’re not busy taking care of your toddler or doing chores or when you’re not allowed to engage in any strenuous activities, why not catch up with friends virtually?
Facebook – Enjoy reading your Live Feed. Catch up with whatever your friends are up to.Twitter – Do more catching up with the world.Geekologie.com, Thesuperficial.com, Supahcute.com – a daily does of Hollywood, geek, and kawaii news.Mommy forums – Subscribe to several mommy websites (smartparenting.com.ph included of course!) and make some new virtual friends or exchange advice.Baking or cooking forums – Or any forum that involves your passion. Get engrossed in discussions over your favorite topics (like exchanging recipes!).
As a mommy, you might find yourself second (or third, or fourth, or last!) after our loved ones. But remember, a mommy who’s cared for means a family that’s well cared for as well.
