Such a Trooper! A 12-Year-Old Helped Deliver Her Baby BrotherThe tween girl was so determined to see her new baby brother. She got more than what she asked for.by Rachel Perez .
Siblings usually meet the new baby in the family all clean and wrapped up in a blanket, but not Jacee Dellapenna. The 12-year-old girl had the privilege of delivering her baby brother. Yes, you read that right. She saw her little brother Cayson covered in vernix, the waxy white material that coats a newborn baby's body, as he came out ofher mother's vagina.
"Birth is a very natural process, and I thought that people seeing a 12-year-old overwhelmed with happiness delivering a baby herself would help get that message across," singer-songwriter Nikki Smith, a family friend, told Babble. She posted the photos of Jacee catching the baby and even cutting the cord, which have been shared more than 166,000 times and garnered over 184,000 reactions.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW

"Jacee is a superstar for doing it, and she's so brave," Nikki said. She thought it was unique that Jacee delivered her baby brother because she will always have that memory and a bond with her brother. She wanted to see her baby brother born but got to do so much more than just watch.
According to MSNews Now, Jacee started crying because she thought she was too short to see her baby brother be born. Instead, the doctor of her mom, Dede Carraway, suggested to have the little girl suit up and help deliver the baby. Her daughter excitedly agreed, and the mom went with it.

There were some who didn't think it was "proper" for a young girl to be in the center of the action. For those who were iffy about her witnessing a mature life event, Jacee seems unfazed. "I was nervous... but it was the best moment of my life," she said.
Dede was emotional about the experience, too. "Seeing the emotions on her face, it made me cry," she said and added that all the pain of giving birth made it more worth it. The mom of three (she has another son, Zadyn) believes Jacee now sees birth as a beautiful natural process and gives her a unique perspective on motherhood at such a young age.
The family wouldn't be surprised if her eldest change her mind about being a veterinarian and shift to being a doctor who delivers babies. Come to think of it, this exprience is also a a unique way of showing little girls not just the miracle of childbirth, but also the strength of women.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
