  • From giving birth to saying their ‘I dos’ all in a day, this couple from Cebu has the most unique wedding story to tell their future kids

Giving birth hours before the wedding

We’ve all probably heard of the saying ‘the show must go on’ no matter what. A Cebu couple recently put new meaning into this saying when they decided to push through with their wedding just hours after the bride — brace yourselves — gave birth!

Oslob-based Louie Pasinabo and his new bride, Hiassin Jane Carulasan, were all set to say their “I dos” on December 4, 2021, however, their little bun couldn’t wait to get out of the oven on the day of their wedding. In a span of 24 hours Hiassin went from labor to motherhood to being a new bride. Whew!

The baby was supposed to come out on Christmas eve

In an interview with the couple in the website CDN Life!, they shared that Hiassin wasn’t due to give birth until December 24, but the baby, obviously, had other plans. Midnight of December 4, Hiassin started to have contractions so the family decided to rush her to the hospital. By 5:55 a.m., baby girl Vin Andrea Pasinabo was born.

Should the wedding push through or not?

The next hard decision the couple had to make was whether to push through with their wedding. After all, the catering has been set, the priest is waiting, and the entourage was ready. In the same article, the couple said that if the wedding gets postponed they couldn’t afford to have another celebration anymore since all their pigs have been butchered for the occasion.

In a SmartParenting.com.ph interview via Messenger,  Louie says, “Naihanda na po lahat kung i-po-postpone. Wala na po kaming maipakain sa susunod. Sayang naman po 'yung handaan. Kami po yung nagpasya na ituloy.”

The entourage included a nurse on standby

It was decided that the wedding vows will be done within the hospital grounds.  After getting the doctor’s approval and transferring the reception at the hospital, the event proceeded as planned with Hiassin still in a wheelchair and attached to an IV solution, with a nurse on standby.

The celebration proceeded as planned at the couple’s home in Oslob. “Ako lang po nakapag-entertain ng bisita,” Louie tells Smart Parenting. “Naiwan po ang asawa ko sa ospital kasi di pa pwedeng lumabas ng ospital kung 'di pa umabot ng 24 oras. At kailangan din magpahinga ng asawa ko.”

    Happy bride and new mom

Louie says that mother and child are home and doing very well. “Okay na okay po ang asawa ko, nakapagpahinga naman siya ng tama.”

From simply being a couple, the Pasinabos instantly went to being a new family in a day. In one of their wedding photos posted on Louie’s Facebook account, the couple is shown with their newborn in their arms.

    Early blessing

The couple sees the unexpected birth as nothing but an early blessing for their young family.  “Hindi man namin inaasahan na mabiyayaan kami ng supling sa mismong araw ng kasal namin, laking pasasalamat pa rin po kasi dumoble po ‘yung blessings,” shares Louie.

“Ang saya namin kasi di kami pinabayaan ng panginoon at nakapanganak ng normal ang asawa ko,” he adds.

As they say, all’s well that end well. Congratulations to the new family!
