  • Many new moms experience a mild, short-lived depression known as the “baby blues.” But the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists says that about 10 to 28 percent of new moms experience postpartum depression, a more severe form of depression that can develop within the first six months after giving birth. Contributing factors may be physiological, sociological, psychological, and genetic.
